Azapropazone was investigated in a 2-week double-blind clinical out-patient trial against placebo in 23 patients with definite rheumatoid arthritis. The drug was given at a dose of 1200 mg. per day before food. At this dose level the drug was shown to have an antirheumatic effect in terms of pain relief, articular tenderness and duration of morning stiffness.

There is general agreement that library policies have considerable influence on the use of libraries. Medical school (health science) libraries of this country were surveyed as to their policies in respect to whether faculty and student use were regulated by a single policy, circulation regulations, hours library was accessible to users, accessibility of reserve material, interlibrary loan, policy on overdue material, and exit control. THE LIBRARIES WERE THEN DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS, HIGH, MIDDLE, AND LOW ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS: size of student body, size of faculty, size of holdings, size of library staff, annual budget, and annual circulation. Our findings would indicate that schools falling in a high category based upon these criteria tend to be more restrictive in their policies and to have different regulations for faculty and students than do schools in the low category. These findings warrant further study.

The librarian functions as one of the most important of medical educators. This role is frequently unrecognized, and for that reason, too little attention is given to this role. There has been too little attention paid to the research role that should be played by the librarian. With the development of new methods of information storage and dissemination, it is imperative that the persons primarily responsible for this function should be actively engaged in research. We have little information at the present time as to the relative effectiveness of these various media. We need research in this area. Librarians should assume an active role in incorporating into their area of responsibility the various types of storage media.

Vibrio alginolyticus was associated with a littoral wound infection in an Arizonan injured near the Sea of Cortez. While this is the first instance from this estuary, the relatively recent increase in the number of isolates suggests both that most coastal waters are a natural habitat of the organism and that probably many previous isolates were incorrectly identified in the past. Mischaracterization most likely results from a gram-negative work-up routine deficient for the isolation of halophilic organisms. The morbid course of this case was in part predictable owing to the organism's resistance to several first choice antibiotics. The laboratory characteristics of V. alginolyticus and others in the Vibrio genus associated with maritime disease are reviewed.
