[Philosophy of prevention in stomatology].

The authors make an analysis of the concept of prevention as applied to the field of stomatology, and also discuss the prophylactic strategies, and the means for action. A series of aspects are discussed, including: the why of preventive practice? What is preventive practice? The philosophy of prevention; which are the facilities and the necessary equipment?

[Treatment of supramalleolar open fractures by means of centro-medullary osteosynthesis of the fibula].

The study is concerned with 11 cases of open supra-malleolar fractures involving both bones. The tibial fracture was of the comminutive type, with a large number of small fragments allowing an exteriorization of the proximal end or telescoping of the ends with consecutive loss of the axis. Due to a difficult synthesis of the tibial bone synthesis of the peroneum with a thick rod or with a brooch was performed, recovering the length of the lever and allowing to de-telescope the tibial focus, to recover the normal length and a corresponding axis. Since in all the treated cases consolidation was achieved over a duration of 5 months, the advantage is stressed, of the procedure which, solving indirectly the fracture, protects the tibial focus, already poorly irrigated and susceptible to pseudarthrosis in thi;s type of location.

[Study of deformities of the human pelvis, using the tensiometric method (experimental research)].

The authors present the result of their experimental studies with the tensiometric method performed on human renal basins with the tensiometric method, under different conditions of stress. The studies have been based on the principle of recording microdeformations of basins under determined amounts of stress, and they have demonstrated the proportionality between the stress and the deformation as being a direct one. The most stressed areas have been evidenced, when transversal and antero-posterior compression was applied, and the mechanism is explained, of the rupture of the basins in relation with the concentration of the tension that have developed in a predilect way in certain areas.
