[Comparative studies of the reliability of results in determining blood glucose by 2 methods].

Comparative studies are reported on the reliability of the results in the determination of blood glucose by glucosooxidase-peroxidase and o-toluidine methods. Both methods have a good correlation. r = 0.9575 with n = 61. The results indicate that the GOD/POD method and o-toluidine method have a good reproducibility in time and series and high accuracy. Due to the poorer toxicity of GOD/POD-method its broader implementation in routine practice is recommended.

[Diagnostic significance of lysozymuria in chronic pyelonephritis].

Lysozymuria was studied in 70 patients with chronic pyelonephritis with preserved renal function and two groups of 18 patients each with pyelonephritis, with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) and glomerulonephritis without CRI. Elevated value of lysozyme in urine was obtained in 40% of the patients with chronic pyelonephritis with preserved renal function and in 66.6% of those with chronic pyelonephritis in the stage of a chronic renal insufficiency. Lysozyme level in urine is in a correlation dependence on serum creatinine level. Lysozymuria is more frequent among patients with pyelonephritis with significant bacteriuria as well as among patients not treated with uroantiseptics. Lysozymuris is present in two patients with nephrotic syndrome from the patient group with glomerulonephritis and in two with probable not complicated chronic pyelonephritis.

[Our experience with outside laboratory quality control].

The results from the national outside laboratory qualitative control of the clinical diagnostic laboratory investigations for the period September 1975 -- May 1977 were described. The following interlaboratory discrepancy was found on base of a systematic analysis of the data from the last two ring-like check-ups, November 1976 and May 1977, exressed by the variation coefficient (V.C. %); total protein, sodium, potassium and chlorides -- under 10%; cholesterol, urea and total fats -- between 10 and 20%; calcium, phosphorus, iron and creatinine -- over 20%. The highest per cent of admissible results are found with total protein -- to 85%; cholesterol -- to 70.38%; glucosa -- to 73.17%, urea -- to 69.23%, potassium -- to 59.46%, chlorides -- to 57.9%. With sodium, phosphorus, calcium, iron creatinine and uric acid the "admissibility" fluctuates about or under 50 per cent. The values of the qualitative-control indices discussed are comparable with the values obtained from them in the interlaboratory comparisons of other countries.

[Observation of the changes in the locomotor apparatus and calcium-phosphorus metabolism in kidney transplant patients].

Renal function indices were analyzed as well as those of calcium-phosphorus metabolism and the state of bone skeleton in seven patients with renal transplantation. Consideration is given to a grave complication resulting from a long-term treatment with corticosteroids--aseptic osteonecrosis, found in two of the subjects observed and severe cortisone myopathy in one of the patients.

Adult

[Urine specific gravity and osmolarity in hypertension patients with dehydration].

Results are reported from the comparative investigations of kidney concentration function by urine specific gravity and its osmolatity of 58 patients with arterial hypertension. Significant differences were found in more of the half of the patients. On the base of certain theoretical prerequisites and possibilities of technical errors was concluded that the determination of the maximal urine osmolality is a more reliable and more accurate index for the actual renal concentration ability. Urine specific gravity can be used in the everyday clinical practice due to the more convenient and easier determination. Urine osmolality must be used predominantly in scientific-clinical studies.
