[Infiltrating hematoma of the hepatic pedicle and gallbladder wall. Ultrasonographic and x-ray computed tomographic aspects].

A case of infiltrative hematoma of the porta hepatitis and the gallbladder wall is reported. It is a rare complication of anticoagulant treatment. The sonographics findings were 1 degree an echogenic material surrounding the porta hepatis, and 2 degrees a gallbladder wall thickening. Both these lesions appeared as dense areas on computed tomography (CT) scan. The aetiologies of hemorrhagic cholecystitis are discussed.

Intrahepatic calculi: imaging by MR.

The magnetic resonance (MR) examinations of six patients with intrahepatic calculi were reviewed retrospectively to 1) determine the ability of MR to demonstrate intrahepatic calculi and 2) assess the MR appearance of the stones. In five out of six cases, MRI demonstrated intrahepatic calculi. In three cases, stones exhibited a low intensity signal on the different spin echo (SE) sequences, as previously described by in vitro and in vivo studies. However in two other cases, a significant signal with short T1 and relatively long T2 relaxation times was noticed. These different features are discussed in relation to chemical and physical differences in intrahepatic calculi and compared with variable CT attenuation values of stones. MRI seems to provide complementary information concerning intrahepatic calculi.

[Aorto-digestive fistulae. X-ray computed tomographic diagnosis].

Fistula between aortic graft and gastrointestinal tract is a rare and potentialy fatal complication of aortic graft surgery. This entity should be considered when criticaly ill and infected patients are encountered with on CT, entrance of contrast medium from an aortic graft in adjacent intestine.

Hepatic plasmocytoma: sonographic and CT findings.

The sonographic and CT features of a case of solitary plasmocytoma of the liver are described. Dynamic CT findings of the tumor differ only slightly from those encountered in cavernous hemangiomas. Liver biopsy under ultrasound or CT guidance followed by immunohistochemical procedure can provide prompt diagnosis of this rare solitary liver tumor.

[Phlebitis of the arm caused by pentothal infusion].

The administration of high doses of sodium penthiobarbital in intensive resuscitation sometimes results in venous and cutaneous lesions in the form of phlebitis associated with major necrosis. Histological analysis demonstrates that these are essentially intimal lesions and the authors suggest various hypotheses to explain the origin of such clinical signs.

[Urinary Escherichia coli infections in the rat. Significance of the study of antibody-coated bacteria].

The value of antibody coated bacteria (ACB) determinations in localizing urinary tract infections has yet to be confirmed. According, a study of ACB was carried out in rats in which either an upper or lower urinary tract infection has been experimentally induced with E. coli. Several ACB determinations were made for each animal prior to being sacrificed for pathological studies on the 7th day after inoculation. ACB were found only in those animals with parenchymatous lesions of the kidney or prostate, thus supporting the localizing value of this technique.
