[Status of the vestibular analyzer and psychophysiologic parameters in miners and crew members cleaning up the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear plant accident].

Status of the vestibular analyzer and psychophysiologic parameters were studied in 20 miners with the long length of service and in 16 liquidators of Chernobyl atomic power station accident consequences. Liquidators showed the reliably increased latent periods of P1, N1 and P2 spikes of vestibular evoked potentials, considerably increased latent time of the complicated oculomotor reaction and lowered rate of information processing. Exposure to increased radiation dose during the work at Chernobyl atomic power station was a main factor to influence on the functional status of vestibular analyzer.

[Substantiation and assessment of the effectiveness of hygienic recommendations for healthier work conditions of operators at seismic-acoustic stations].

The labour conditions of seismic operators were studied as a sample of similar professions engaged in acoustic control services. Depending on the number of the sectors under control and the seismic activity in the area, the enthropy of the sounds controlled and the information volume were assessed within 2.2-2.62 and 1.29-1.81 bit/symbol, respectively. The physiological functions' analysis in dynamics for a shift and a week revealed the peculiar features of overstrain characteristic of the working hours in a shift, particularly towards the 3rd and 6th day of the week. The recommendations proposed were designed to reduce overstrain and improve the operators' functional state at work.

[The working conditions and health status of miners in Donets Basin coal mines].

Data are reported on working conditions of coal miners considering the main physical (dust, noise, vibration, microclimate) and chemical environmental professional factors and their prognosis up to the year 2005. The authors analyze professional morbidity (pneumoconiosis, dust-induced bronchitis, vibration disease, cochlear neuritis etc.) and diseases with temporary loss of the working capacity invalidity and mortality of miners. The relation between working conditions and health status of miners were analyzed.

[Effect of inhalation of freshly melted water on the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract].

The authors conducted experiments on healthy people-volonteers and found that inhalation of freshly melted water definitely intensified the activity of the ciliated epithelium of the upper respiratory tract mucous membrane. They pesent result of the investigation permitting to eliminate the effect of ciliated epithelium "fatigue': after prolonged use of such inhalation. Data of comparative observations with the use of functional methods of investigation show that freshly melted water has a definitely normalizing effect on reflex stimulation, secretory function, temperature and other factors of mucous membrane activity.
