[Production of monospecific serum against secretory IgA (anti-SC) and a standard for quantitative analysis].

The authors describe a method of obtaining monospecific serum against secretory IgA and the corresponding standard. An immunochemically pure (11.6S) secretory human IgA was extracted from the colostrum by salt fractionation and gel-filtration through Sephadex G-200 and Sepharose 6B; this IgA was used as an antigen for the immunization and the standard for the quantitative determination of SIgA in the secretions. Monospecific anti-SC-serum was obtained by successive exhaustion of the antiserum against the S IgA immunosorbents prepared from normal human serum and the serum of a patient suffering from A myeloma containing polymeric IgA forms.

[Serum immunoglobulin content in blood donors].

The content of IgG, IgM and IgA was studied in the blood serum of 408 donors aged from 18 to 46 years and older (217 men and 191 women). The results obtained were expressed in the IU and in absolute values by protein. It was established that the quantity of immunoglobulins of all the three classes increased with the advance of age. There was no strict correlation between the immunoglobulin level depending on sex, although for some individual age groups there was noted a statistically sinificant difference in the IgA and IgG content.

[Determination of immunoglobulin fractions in the blood serum of El Tor cholera patients and carriers].

The authors present the results of examination of patients and carriers of El Tor vibrios for the purpose of detection in their blood sera of individual immunoglobulin fractions. The content of three immunoglobulin fractions (A, G and M) was determined by radial immunodiffusion after Mancini in 118 blood sera of 50 patients with cholera and in 61 sera from 31 vibrio carriers. Blood sera of 23 apparently healthy persons were examined for control. It was found that in cholera patients the level of all the immunoglobulin classes was much greater than in healthy individuals; at the period of convalescence the IgA content increased, and the IgM content decreased. The blood sera of vibrio carriers displayed an equally high IgA and IgG level. There was no significant difference in the immunoglobulin indices in patients with a different severity of the disease.
