[The marginal periodontium on osseointegrated implants--literature review and own investigations. 2. Own investigations].

19 IMZ-implants with a medium age of incorporation of 10.5 months were examined at four sites concerning their periimplantary situation. Gingival index, bleeding on probing, pocket depth and composition of subgingival plaque corresponded in 67% of the examined sites with periodontal health. Favourable correlations were stated between the values of plaque index and of the bleeding on probing as well as between the wide of fixed gingiva and the dimension of gingival recession. Compared to bridge constructions more unfavourable results concerning the amount of plaque and clinical criteria of the gingival margin were observed in case of mucosal fixed prostheses.

[Construction and managing of maintenance care in periodontology].

The maintenance care of periodontal treated patients is the necessary prerequisite for the individual long-life tooth preservation. The recall interval derives from the recidivity, the compliance of the patient, and from the individual disposition. The use of a self-developed data-bank-system relieve evaluation and processing of the extensive data which will be raised site-specific in the recall session. It will be given some directions to the content of the periodontal maintenance care.

[Acute and chronic necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis].

The development of an acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (ANUG) is connected with preexisting gingivitis and factors of disposition which are able to influence the host resistance. Typical clinical signs of ANUG are necrosis of interdental gingiva, bleeding and pain. Concerning to clinical sign there is a differentiation between the acute and the chronic necrotizing gingivitis. The treatment of ANUG follows the general rules of gingivitis-therapy and will be modified concerning to the clinical signs. It will propose a regular follow-up for prevention of recidivation.

[Structural changes in the dental hard substances and jaw bones of animals due to short-duration weightlessness].

Molars, incisors and parts of corpus mandibulae from a total of 40 male, 30 female (WISTAR SPF), who were exposed for a short-time microgravity, and of their 90 d old offspring were examined. It was calculated the carbonateapatite content in the teeth and in bone in percent by infrared spectroscopy. In terms of quantitative parameters the substances of the space flight group versus the controls varied clearly. Quality and size of these changes depend from sex, investigated material and time of space flight. It can be concluded that an accommodation to the flight stress is possible without any functional disorders also in the oral system.
