[Diagnosis and pathogenesis of diabetic myocardiodystrophy].

On the basis of findings of a comprehensive investigation of 882 patients with diabetes mellitus making use of biochemical, electrophysiologic, radioisotopic and morphohistochemical methods, diagnostic criteria of diabetic myocardiodystrophy were identified, and a scheme of differential diagnosis between chronic coronary disease and myocardiodystrophy is proposed for diabetic patients. The correlation of morphological and histochemical changes in microcirculatory vessels of the myocardium and the skin has shown myocardial microangiopathy to be the morphologic substrate of diabetic myocardiodystrophy.

Adult

[Experience with the early diagnosis and prevention of neuroendocrine diseases in an industrial enterprise].

The paper is concerned with a pressing problem of clinical endocrinology: diagnosis of diseases of the neuroendocrine system at early stages. Examination of workers in a large enterprise of a leading industrial branch was based on a special screening program. The results obtained lay in the basis of recommendations on the primary and secondary prevention of neuroendocrine diseases provided to workers in a sanatorium-preventorium without giving up their work. A complex of health-improving measures is aimed at the prevention of disease in persons having risk factors and at maintaining the working ability among patients with neuroendocrine disturbance.

Adolescent

[Features of triiodothyronine reception in incorporation of radioactive iodine].

Effects of incorporated 131I in combination with intake of fodder contaminated with 134,137Cs on triiodothyronin reception by peripheral blood lymphocytes in rats aged 2 and 6 months were examined. Incorporation of 131I was found to cause specific binding of the hormone, particularly marked in young animals.

Animals

[Triiodothyronine reception after exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation].

Effects of ionizing radiation in doses 0.5 and 1 Gy on triiodothyronin reception by rat peripheral blood lymphocytes were examined 3, 10, and 30 days after exposure. Binding capacity of 125-I labeled triiodothyronin by lymphocyte receptors was found to change depending on the dose of external irradiation and time elapsed since the exposure. The most marked and earliest changes in the parameters of hormonal-receptor interaction were observed after irradiation in dose 1 Gy.
