Extracoronal amalgam restorations utilizing available tooth structure for retention.
The rationale and technique for an alternative to placement of pins for retention of amalgam restorations have been presented. The non-pin-retained extracoronal amalgam provides a permanent restoration, capable of fine marginal adaptation, natural contour, excellent occlusion, and remarkable durability.
