We describe standard value charts with lower limit for our population between heights 100-140 cm. We have made different charts for males and females for VC, FVC and FEV. For PEFR, MMF, MEF (25%), MEF (50%) and MEF (75%) charts are common for both sexes.
Fasting insulinemie levels and after overload with oral glucose are studied in a group of 30 overweight children aged between 2--12 years. The results are: An increase in insulin secretion according to the age only in the overload test. The insulin and glucose areas in the overweight child is statistically bigger than in the healthy child. We conclude that hyperinsulinism in obesity, may be related with a insuline-resistance and with some kind of glucose intolerance.
A group of obese children comparatively to a control group of normal children using Rorschach's protocols is studied. Quantitatively it doesn't appear significant differences, although a serie of characteristics in obese children (a proportional increase in answer of small detail and human movement, less number of answer of colour-form and animal contents), is found. Cualitatively some differences (desvitalitation phenomenous and shock in front of grey colours) are also found. The present work deduces that it doesn't exist reasons to think about an specific structure and dynamic in personality of obese children.
The object of this paper is the presentation of the problem griented medical record now in use at the Department of Pediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia. The main documents of this medical record (problem list, discharge summary, anamnesis and physical examination summary, and medical record summary) are given describing the characteristics of format and the rules for its completion. The relationships between the main documents are shown.
The recovery rate of Moraxella catarrhalis in a selective culture medium with acetazolamide and in a conventional blood-agar medium was compared from 1291 samples from the respiratory tract and conjunctivae of children and adults with respiratory and ocular symptomatology. M. catarrhalis was recovered in 215 samples on the acetazolamide medium, and only. 18 cases in the blood agar medium (p < 0.001). The highest recovery of M. catarrhalis was in samples with an accompanying flora, either pathogenic or commensal, such as pharyngeal and nasal exudates. The prevalence of M. catarrhalis in adults and children was 2% and 28%, respectively. We therefore, recommend the use of the acetazolamide medium for the recovery of M. catarrhalis in samples where M. catarrhalis is expected to be present with an accompanying flora.
