[Morphometric characteristics of the kidney nephrogenic zone in newborn rats].

The aim of this work was to give a quantitative characteristic of nephronogenesis and to select the morphometric criteria, which adequately reflect the dynamics of morphogenetic processes. As the study object, the nephrogenic zone of a newborn rat kidney was used, that was examined in sections stained using histological and histochemical methods. The development of nephron structures and of the stroma was followed, and it was established that grading the degree of differentiation of the structures, comparison the nephrogenic zone, reflects the system of current concepts on the inter-inductive influences, which are realized between the distal portions of collecting ducts and nephrogenic cells, epitheliocytes of developing tubules and stromal cells. The morphometric parameters obtained could be used for interpretation of the data on the velocity of nephron formation and tubulogenesis, as well as on the intensity and quality of vascular glomeruli formation.

[Changes in calcium metabolism in osteoarthrosis in miners].

The studies covered serum levels of total and ionized calcium (Ca), parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcitriol (Ctr) and calcitonin (Ct) in miners assigned to various occupational groups and suffering from deforming osteoarthrosis. Ratio of calcium clearance to glomerular filtration rate was assessed. Ionized Ca appeared to decrease along with increase of PTH and Ctr. Changes in Ca homeostasis were proved to depend on occupation, geologic conditions in the mines (depth, ambient temperature of the workplace), presence of chondrocalcinosis.

[Hypophyseal gonadotropic function in gout].

Gonadotropic function of hypophysis was studied in 109 patients with gout. Raised level of luteinizing hormone (LH) was found in men while women had decreased content of LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Severe lesions of joins and kidneys were associated with suppressed FSH secretion. The authors consider correction of hormonal dysfunction in gout to be advisable. Certain correlative relations were established to exist between levels of gonadotropins, sex hormones and indices of purine metabolism.

[Renal blood flow as a factor in the realization of trophic influences during compensatory hypertrophy under denervation].

In the Wistar rats, the effect of nervous decentralization of a single kidney on the changes of local blood flow in the cortex and medulla, was studied. Phasic changes of the intraorganic [correction of interorgan] hemodynamics involving a cortical perfusion increase during 15 days followed by a progressive decrease of the local blood flow, were recorded. The redistribution in the kidney blood flow involved a decrease of the tissue blood flow in the cortex within 30 days along with a rise in the local medullary blood flow. The cortical blood flow decrease was due to a changed reactivity of the denervated kidney's arterioles and lesion of the tubulo-interstitium in the cortex.

[Structural and functional changes in the mitochondrial apparatus of cortical tubules of the solitary kidney in chronic blockade of cholinergic mediation].

In 15, 30 and 90 days the effect of continuous atropine pharmacological blockade of parasympathetic innervation on morphometrical characteristics of epithelial mitochondria in the cortical segments of the canaliculi has been studied in a single kidney of Wistar rats. The maximal degree of the alternative changes has been determined in the proximal canaliculi. In the distal canaliculi epithelium a compensatory increase of the main quantitative parameters in mitochondria has been registered. The plasticity of the mitochondrial apparatus, specific for the collecting tubules under compensatory hypertrophy, is inhibited under conditions of deparasympathization.

[Local cortical and medullary blood flows to the single kidney in chemical sympathectomy].

Topological shifts of intracortical and intramedullary blood flow were studied with the hydrogen clearance technique in the single kidney of Wistar rats. A hyperperfusion of the cortex due to contralateral nephrectomy and vasodilating effect of sympatholytic agent, was found during first 24 hours. Cortical blood flow decreased and medullary one increased within 7 days, which was due to compensatory shifts in the kidney necessary for the adaptation of the kidney to the tissue deficit of adrenergic transmitter, and for the maintenance of the water-salt homeostasis in conditions of a systemic peripheral sympathectomy .

[Changes in the local blood flows of the single kidney with partial impairment of the autonomic innervation].

The changes of cortical and intramedullary blood flow of the remaining after nephrectomy kidney under the condition of guanethidine sympathectomy and continuous pharmacological blockade of parasympathetic mediation by atropine were studied in chronic experiments on Wistar line rats in dynamics at 4, 7, 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. Decrease in cortical and increase of intramedullary peritubular blood flow were noted in both experimental series, that is both blockade of sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves after 15 days. The conclusion was made that blood flow redistribution is a universal mechanisms of single kidney adaptation to its neurogenic impairments.

[State of intracardiac hemodynamics in normothermic heart perfusion].

The state of intracardiac hemodynamics during normothermal perfusion was studied on an isolated heart-lung preparation obtained by the Robicsek I method (30 experiments). In appraisal of the hemodynamic and myocardial indices characterizing the functional condition of the right and left ventricles in 2 to 3 hours, definite changes were revealed which allowed prognostication of the duration and effectiveness of preservation. If the functional condition of the transplant (changes predominantly in the right ventricle) diminished in this period, heart arrest occurred within the next 30--60 minutes. If after these 2--3 hours the work of the heart-lung preparation was characterized by stationary parameters of intracardiac hemodynamics, such a transplant was capable of maintaining autoperfusion for 7 to 8 hours; the optimum term of preservation, however, was 6 hours. Irreparable diminution of the transplant viability occurred sharply in the next one or two hours.
