Composition of energy metabolism substrates increases the efficiency of pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases.

The substrate composition containing succinic acid, substrates for succinate synthesis, and antioxidants increased the efficiency of pharmacotherapy in patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension. We revealed an increase in the quality of life and decrease in the functional class of heart failure, incidence of arrhythmias and exercise-related pain, and blood cholesterol concentration.

Histological method for evaluation of the efficiency of Enerlit-Clima.

We propose a method of evaluation of anticlimacteric efficiency of a drug by its effect on the estrous cycle. The study was carried out on 9-month-old mice with retained, but notably reduced reproductive function. Analysis of the cell components of the estrous cycle was carried out on histological preparations of vaginal smears.

Energy value of glucose and lactate for the myocardium in patients with mitral stenosis.

In 145 patients with severe mitral stenosis the levels of energy substrates and adenile nucleotides were determined in biopsy samples from the left atrial appendage obtained during mitral commissurotomy. Patients with the latest stage (stage IV according to Bakulev and Damir's classification) of mitral stenosis displayed, in comparison with stage III patients, activation of aerobic oxidation of glucose, lactate and succinate, together with a moderate reduction in myocardial glucose, lactate and pyruvate levels. ATP content and myocardial adenile nucleotide pool did not change with progression of the disease.

[Potassium release from erythrocytes of different age rats in 9 simulated lactic acidosis].

The methods are described for determination of potassium content in erythrocytes by means of a K+ selective electrode, for evaluation of changes in potassium permeability through their membranes and for detection of the Na+, K+-ATPase contribution to spontaneous and induced cation release from cells. Preincubation of erythrocytes with 5 mM lactate has no effect on the potassium release rate and content in cells of young and adult rats. Under the effect of 25 mM lactate the rate of K+ release from erythrocytes of adult animals lowers and sensitivity to ouabaine of this process stimulated by valinomycin increases. The latter effect is less pronounced in erythrocytes of young rats and is accompanied by a rise in potassium total content in cells.
