[Parasitic invasions and bronchial obstruction].

The course and outcomes of bronchial obstruction were reviewed for clonorchiasis, metagonimosis, lambliasis. Bronchial obstruction is shown to run more aggressive course in Trematoda infestation with further transformation into bronchial asthma despite dehelminthization. In lambliasis current antiparasitic therapy is able to abolish the obstruction. In combination of lambliasis with bronchial asthma it is feasible to achieve a persistent remission of bronchial asthma.

[Biopsy of the pleura in pulmonology].

The results of pleural biopsy examination were compared for three different techniques: Coop's needle, forceps and brush biopsies. The two latter methods are proposed for improvement of morphological diagnosis in exudative pleurisy of unclear etiology. Most effective is pleural brush biopsy allowing morphological verification of pleural process in 78.4% of cases.

[Differential diagnosis of exudative pleurisy].

The authors propose signs of high informative value (eosinophilia of the pleural fluid, high amylase concentrations in the pleural exudate) to be used as help in differential diagnosis of pleurisy. Eosinophilic pleurisies are caused by injuries and helminthic invasions, whereas elevated levels of amylase in the pleural fluid are indicative of chronic pancreatitis.

[The mucolytic therapy of chronic obstructive bronchitis].

The authors review the efficacy of mucolytic drugs in inhalations used alone and in combination with other substances (mucosolvin, ascoksal, powder soda, soda + ascoksal, soda + mucosolvin) against chronic obstructive bronchitis. The highest effect was achieved in inhalations of powder soda with ascoksal. This treatment is most potent in reducing the broncho-obstructive syndrome.

[The pre-x-ray diagnosis of peripheral lung cancer].

Assessment of fine apparatuses bronchoscopy informative value in diagnosis of peripheral lung cancer prior to X-ray examination in hemoptysis of obscure genesis found this value to be high. It allows both visual presentation of the tumor and obtaining cytological specimens from the involved site.

[The causes of prolonged fever in patients with infiltrative lung processes].

The authors analyze the causes of lingering fever in patients with pulmonary infiltrations. The given phenomenon is most often caused by pneumonias provoked by unusual causative agents (Legionella, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma). In such cases, administration of erythromycin is effective. In rare cases, lingering fever is induced by blocked pulmonary suppurations, pleural exudates in pneumonia patients, and infiltrative tuberculosis. Besides, there were cases, in which fever was of drug etiology.

[Cough-syncope syndrome].

The paper is concerned with pathogenetic mechanisms of cough syncope, its diagnosis, evaluation of working ability in this disease. Obesity plays a substantial role in the onset of cough syncope. The severity of pulmonary insufficiency or hypotonic dyskinesia of the tracheobronchial free are not essential for the disease course. Treatment of cough syncope should be based on therapy of pulmonary process and its complications.

[Sporadic cases of Legionella pneumonia].

Clinicoroentgenological presentation of Legionella-induced pneumonia diagnosed in a pulmonological department of the Khabarovsk regional hospital is illustrated on 5 cases confirmed serologically. Sporadic legionellosis is characterized by: an acute onset simulating croupous pneumonia, a severe lingering course, ++semi-segmental type of infiltration, pleural involvement, drastic alterations of peripheral blood (leukocytosis shift to the left, accelerated ESR), resistance to penicillin, cephalosporin and aminoglycoside antibiotics in contract to erythromycin exhibiting a pronounced therapeutic effect.
