[Calculation of normal values in lung compliance].

Within a study of standard values, investigations of the static and dynamic lung compliance were performed in 162 test persons in a good state of health of heart and lungs. Age, size, constitution, and intrathoracical gas volume are necessary parameters for calculation of an individual standard value of the dynamic compliance, whereas age and intrathoracical gas volume only are needed for calculation of a standard value of the static compliance. The new standard values are compared with the values known from the literature.

[An animal model of bronchus-stenosis (author's transl)].

The stenosis of the main bronchus is a serious disease. In many cases a surgical correction is necessary. However, compared to other surgical procedure the surgical reconstruction of the bronchus is relatively seldom done. Therefore it is not easy to answer some questions in this topic. A reproducible animals model might help to clarify some of this problems. In our experimental model the anodical current is used to produce the stenosis by putting an electrode in the bronchus after narcosis of a mini-pig. A surgical procedure is not necessary. In this way a maximum approach of the experimental model to a clinical situation is obtained.

[pH measurements in the vascular wall of dogs with electrically induced thrombosis of the femoral artery].

Electrically induced thrombosis is often used for pathophysiologic and therapeutic experiments. The pH value of the vascular wall was measured to approach the features of this thrombosis. After inducing thrombosis by direct current, pH value of the intima of femoral artery was found decreased. The anode was inserted in the lumen. As to the behavior of the pH value, electric thrombosis and clinical thrombosis are similar. Electric thrombosis therefore seems to be valuable for comparing investigations.
