[Morphological changes in airway tissues in patients with laryngeal and tracheal deformations].

A histomorphological picture of surgically removed cicatricial tissue was compared in two groups of patients with deformations of the larynx and trachea: operated within 1-2 months after trauma and 6-12 months after it. Chronic productive inflammation was found in the tissue early after trauma, while later, mature scar tissue was forming. The conclusion is made that operation early after trauma in combination with conservative therapy may prevent deformation and dystrophic changes in the cartilages as well as development of scar tissue.

[Structure of the liver after correction of experimental chronic hepatitis with benzonal and potassium orotate].

As a result of the experimental investigation of the liver damaged with CCL4, its essential structural changes have been revealed. They resemble those specific for a chronic toxic hepatitis. Administration of potassium orothate (100 mg/kg) increases proliferative activity of hepatocytes without any essential influence on intracellular regeneration. Under conditions of a delayed differentiation and lack of resorption of an abundantly outgrowing connective tissue, this results in a more profound pathological process in the liver. Benzonal administration (50 mg/kg) facilitates structural normalization of the chronically damaged liver, owing to activation of both cellular and intracellular regeneration.

[Structural characteristics of the liver in experimental chronic hepatitis and its treatment with benzonal].

Utilization of general morphological, histochemical, morphometric and electron microscopic methods revealed marked structural changes of the liver in experimental chronic hepatitis and its subsequent correction with benzonal. The drug administration results in reversibility of the process due to significant action of cellular, and especially intracellular regenerative processes. The latter is supported by the presence of 2 types of cells, the 1st of which are characterized by predominant mitochondrial hypertrophy and hyperplasia suggesting increase in hepatocyte energy activity and the 2nd ones by hypertrophy of the elements of the smooth reticulum responsible for metabolism of foreign body substances being typical for the action of inductors of hepatic microsomal enzymes.

[Changes in the structure of the gastric mucosa in chronic disorders of visceral blood circulation].

Experiments were conducted on 63 healthy mongrel dogs to study the character of structural changes in the mucous membrane of the stomach in 50% obstruction of the celiac trunk (21), protracted gradual obstruction of the celiac trunk (22), and protracted gradual occlusion of the celiac trunk and cranial mesenteric artery (20). The authors revealed a direct dependence of the structural shifts in the gastric mucosa on the duration and degree of disorders of visceral circulation, which confirms the need for surgical correction; the indications and terms for performing restorative operations are directly dependent on the degree of disorders of the main blood flow.
