[Primary reconstruction in breast-saving cancer surgery].

Breast-conserving therapy in mammary carcinoma is an alternative to the more radical forms of therapy when the tumors are small. The cosmetic results obtained are not always satisfactory. Correction of deformities of this kind in breasts which have been subjected to post-operative radiation is difficult and dangerous. Consequently, reconstruction of the mammary gland should be included in the primary operation. The technical possibilities for doing so are listed. It seems to be justifiable from an oncological point of view.

Mammary reduction combined with reverse abdominoplasty.

We present the surgical technique of reverse abdominoplasty combined with mammary reduction in a single stage. The technical details are described, with special reference to patient selection and postoperative care. Comments about the midsternal scar line are also included.

Dental rotation in cleft lip.

In patients with untreated cleft lip and permanent dentition, the central superior incisors are usually rotated. We use a technique that we call "dental rotation" to adjust these teeth into normal position and occlusion. This technique avoids having a hard structure (a rotated tooth) press against the mucosal sutures in a lip closure. In addition, a better aesthetic appearance of the dental arch results.
