[Effectiveness of repeated systematic radiotherapy for generalized prostate cancer].

Examination of 127 patients with generalized prostate cancer established a low prophylactic effect of systematic treatment with strontium-39 chloride: it failed to alleviate pain in metastatic cancer, nor was it followed by longer mean survival. Repeat systematic radiotherapy is not indicated when palliative measures such as hormonal therapy, local radiotherapy and chemotherapy are still effective.

[Perfusion protection of ischemic liver using perfluorocarbon emulsion].

Several concentrations of Fluorocarbon emulsion as means for anti-ischemic protection of the liver were studied in experiments on 47 rabbits with hypothermic perfusion of isolated liver exposed to 90 minute ischaemia. the best concentration of Fluorocarbon emulsion for perfusion of isolated liver was 12%.

[Anti-ischemic protection of the liver using perfluorocarbon emulsion].

Anti-ischemic effectiveness of a Soviet perfluorocarbon emulsion (PFE) was studied in 43 experiments on rabbits with 90-min constriction of the hepatoduodenal ligament and under hypothermic perfusion of the liver during ischemia in the open contour. It has been established that PFE perfusion to a great extent promotes the retention of the ischemized liver function.

[Effectiveness of a series of pharmacological substances in liver ischemia].

Antiischemic activity of alpha-tocopherol, prednisolone, T-407 and T-408 on functions of liver tissue was studied after 90 min contraction of hepatoduodenal ligament in 61 animals. All the preparations studied exhibited the antiischemic protection of liver tissue; the most effective drugs proved to be T-408 and prednisolone.

[Effect of anti-ischemic protection on biochemical indices of the isolated perfused liver].

alpha-Tocopherol and prednisolone exhibited the highest antiischemic activity, while lidocaine and sodium glutamate were less active after administration into isolated perfused rabbit liver tissue subjected to 60-min thermic ischemia. Chlorpromazine.HCl did not affect the biochemical patterns studied in isolated perfused liver tissue.

[Comparative study of various biochemical and physiological parameters of isolated perfused liver of rabbits, guinea pigs and rats].

As shown in 24 experiments using 60-min normothermic perfusion of isolated liver tissue from rabbit, guinea pig and rat, the tissues from guinea pig and rat proved to be more resistant to the impairing effect of hypoxia; besides, there was the higher rate of main energy producing processes--tissue respiration and glycolysis. This suggests that resistance of isolated liver tissue to the effect of hypoxia, involved in the processes of tissue damage in storage, depended directly on intensity of energetic reactions in the tissue.
