Telemetric cystometry.

We have developed a telemetric monitoring cytometry method of our own. Our telemetric cystometrograms were compared with regular cystometrograms in 4 patients. From these investigations, we concluded that wireless data transmission in urodynamics enables us to obtain more information on the intravesical pressure changes and to evaluate the patient's micturition disorders more accurately than with regular cystometry.

[Clinical studies on cefmenoxine concentration in prostatic tissue and bladder wall].

Clinical studies on cefmenoxime (CMX) concentration in prostatic tissue and bladder wall were made and the following results were obtained. In 40 patients undergoing operation, 1 g of CMX was administered intravenously by bolus technique and CMX levels in peripheral blood, prostatic tissue and bladder wall were examined. The maximum level of prostatic tissue was 35 micrograms/g after 0.41 hour and bladder wall was 62 micrograms/g after 0.37 hour, and T1/2 was 1.41 hours both. CMX, a new broad spectrum cephalosporin, can be considered as one of the highly useful antibiotics for the treatment of postoperative infection.

Pharmacokinetics of cefmetazole in normal subjects and in patients with impaired renal function.

The pharmacokinetics of cefmetazole, a new cephamycin antibiotic, were examined after a 1-h intravenous drip infusion of 1 g to 5 healthy volunteers with normal renal function and 16 patients with impaired renal function. Peak serum concentrations were obtained at the end of the infusion in all subjects, regardless of their renal function. Approximately 70% of the infused dose was excreted in the urine within 6 h in healthy volunteers. The pharmacokinetic parameters of cefmetazole were derived by analyzing elimination data, with a one-compartment open model. The mean serum half-life of cefmetazole in healthy volunteers was 0.81 h. A significant correlation between the elimination rate constant and the creatinine clearance was demonstrated.
