[The observation and assessment of air pollution in the region of the city of Silistra].

In the region of the town of Silistra there are no big industrial enterprises, sources of harmful emissions in the surroundings. After the starting in exploitation of the Metallurgical Works in Călăraşi [correction of Kalarash] in 1987 began the complaints of the population as result of episodic pollutions of the atmospheric air in the region. Productions of similar character emit in the atmosphere dust, sulfur dioxide, carbonic oxide, nitric oxides, hydrogen sulfide, fluorides, ammonia, pyridine, aromatic and polyaromatic carbohydrates, phenol and aerosols of heavy metals. For this purpose on the territory of the town of Silistra two stationary stations of HEI are functioning for systemic observation and evaluation of the atmospheric pollution for the indices: dust, sulfur dioxide, nitric dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, phenol and aerosols of heavy metals. All data are statistically processed by means of statistical programme packet "STATGRAPH".

[An assessment of the air pollution in the area of the Maritsa-Iztok Economic Union].

The heating-electric plant "Maritsa Iztok" is situated in the area of Stara Zagora, on arable agricultural land, in close vicinity to settlements. It includes three heating plants, working with low caloric coals, of high ashen and sulphuric content and briquet fabric. Two stations for observation and evaluation of the atmospheric air in the district of plant "Maritsa Iztok", the meteorological conditions and geographic situation are chosen according to the Bulgarian State Standards 17, 2, 5, 01-81: station 1-"Gŭlŭbovo" and station 2-"Mednikarovo" for indices--dust, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, nitrogen peroxide. In order to determine the content of the already mentioned pollutants in the atmospheric air are used Bulgarian State Standards and the results are compared with the corresponding maximum allowable concentrations, according to Regulation No 2 of the Ministry of Health.

[Atmospheric pollution in the city of Ruse and its effect on the health of the population].

The atmospheric air pollution in the town of Ruse and the related with that changes in the health status of the population has been studied. As a result of the transference from Giurgiu (Romania) hydrogen chloride pollution is observed. Immediate changes in the morbidity of respiratory diseases is determined on the days of pollution. There is also a durable tendency for deterioration of the health status of children and adults, as well as lag behind in the physical development of schoolchildren and aggravated functional lung indices.

[The scintigraphic image of the thyroid gland in large cell eosinophilic tumors--Hürthle cell adenoma and Langhans struma].

Thirteen patients (12 women and 1 man), chiefly aged from 40 to 60 years and suffering from Langhans struma and Hurthle-cell adenoma were examined and operated on. Scintigraphic study of the thyroid gland was conducted in 6 patients with histologically proved Hurthle-cell adenoma; "warm" nodes were revealed in 3 and "cold" nodes also in 3 cases. Three scintigraphic images with a "cold" node and 1--with a "warm" node were obtained in the patients with Langhans struma. In one case with a "hot" node and in one case with a "warm" node of the Hurthle group there was a clinical picture of moderately severe thyrotoxicosis. The differences in the thyroscintigraphic pictures in eosinophilic tumours pointed to the necessity of additional clinical and laboratory investigations.
