[Acrodermatitis enteropathica: a case report].

Acrodermatitis enteropathica is a rare disease which is inherited autosomally and recessively. The reason for the illness is a smaller absorption of zinc. The onset of the illness is deceptive and clinical manifestations refers to the digestive system, skin, hair and nails. The report describes a case of a 6 month girl affected acrodermatitis enteropathica.

[Multi-organ tuberculosis in a child: diagnosis and therapeutic problems].

Diagnostic and therapeutic problems in the course of tuberculosis in a 4 year old boy were described. First symptoms of disease such as specific inflammation of lymph nodes were observed in THE third month of liFe. After typical antituberculous treatment the signs of disease regressed. In consequence of the contact with an individual expeCtorating tubercle bacilli superinfection and generalization of the disease took place what led to the boy's death.

[Complications of mumps in children in light of personal observations].

The clinical manifestation and course of mumps-related complications in 183 children among 214 patients hospitalized due to mumps were analysed. Meningitis was diagnosed in 78% of cases, pancreatitis in 48% and unilateral orchitis was observed in 1.6%. More than one complication was noted in 27% of patients. Usually mumps-related complications occurred between the second and fifth day after the appearance of salivary gland involvement. Their course was fairly grave. Boys were afflicted twice as often as girls. No correlation between the severity of the disease and pleocytosis in cerebro-spinal fluid was observed. The authors discussed a necessity to introduce mass vaccinations against mumps.

[Evolution of viral hepatitis B markers in children infected with HBV in the first two years of life].

Circumstances of acquiring an infection, spontaneous evolution of markers during 6 years of follow-up, laboratory findings and results of liver biopsies were analysed in 51 children infected with HBV during the first two years of life; 76.5% of them developed chronic carrier state. ALAT values were periodically increased in 34 children (66.6%) and elimination of HBeAg i HBsAg occurred in 17 (33.3%) and 12 children (23.5%), respectively, during the first year of follow-up. Seroconversion was observed only in a few cases in the subsequent years. Anti-HBc IgM antibodies were detectable for a mean period of less than 7 months (p < 0.02) after diagnosis of infection.
