[Impairement of estimation of the inner time and the emotional behavior in rats with the lesioned striatum and hippocampus].

Bilateral lesion of the striatum delayed time conditioning in rats, induced anxiety, rearranged normal correlation between the anxiety level and autochronometrical ability. These shifts progressed along with an augmentation of the striatum lesion extent. Combined striat- and hippocampectomy as well as the latter alone resulted in a complete absence of time counting learning irrespective of the brain lesion extent. In these animals anxiety was also more obvious.

[Functional interrelations between suprachiasmatic nuclei and the hippocampus during elaboration and recovery of time conditioning in rats].

In hippocampectomised rats or in rats subjected to hippocampectomy combined with destruction of the hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nuclei, time conditioning could not be elaborated. The lesion of the suprachiasmatic nucleus alone, however, accelerated elaboration of the conditioned reflex. In denucleated rats, the hippocampectomy did not affect the time of a previous conditioning recovery.

Acoustic Stimulation↗

[Circadian fluctuations in the indices of the cardiac intervalogram and their relation to the characteristics of circadian mobility in rats].

Mathematical analysis of the heart rate variability enables one to determine the activity of the sympathetic nervous system at different time of day in rats. A correlation was found between the cardiac intervalogram parameters and the dynamics of rats' circadian motility. Intensification of locomotor activity by day was accompanied by an increase in the sympathetic tone.

[The characteristics of the effect of anaprilin on the indices of the rat cardiac intervalogram at different phases of the circadian cycle].

At night a more effective attenuation of sympathetic activity by acute and chronic propranolol was observed. Single use of the drug in other daytime was accompanied by irregular changes in the neuronal control of heart activities. This irregularity was intensified after repeated treatment of beta-adrenoblocker and led to the stable increase of the sympathetic tone in the morning and day hours.

Analysis of Variance↗

[The antidepressive properties of anaprilin].

After chronic administration of propranolol (1 and 5 mg/kg, 14 days) to rats time-course of forced swimming changed with the decrease of rhythmical index of depression. The drug attenuated depressogenic properties of reserpine and clonidine. Propranolol antidepressive activity is attributed to blockade cerebral adrenoreceptors.

[The contrary effect of destruction of the dorsal hippocampus and of the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus on the rhythmic organization of behavior and on anxiety in rats].

Dorsal hippocampal lesions increase the amplitude of the circadian rhythms of locomotion and the number of long-period cycles in the structure of forced swimming and simultaneously decrease anxiety in rats. Bilateral destruction of the circadian pacemaker (suprachiasmatic nuclei of hypothalamus) induces the opposite shifts in the rhythmic organization of behavior and anxiety of animals.

[The role for the hippocampus in the biorhythmical behavior].

The hippocampus as a important limbic structure has polyfunction properties among which take place chronotropic activity. It is showed in instability of different biological rhythms that provided for adaptation of organism to changing environment conditions. Chronotropic activity may be depenede from reciprocal connections of the hippocampus with brain rhythmorganizing structures (suprachiasmatic nuclei of hypothalamus and pineal gland). Increase of hippocampal excitability after chronic stress are produce disorganization of some rhythmic processes and followed neurosis or psychical depression. Psychotropic drugs (anxiolytics and antidepressants) by means of intensified of hippocampal inhibitory mechanisms (previously GABA and 5-HT) are stabilized of biorhythms what determined their specific anxiolytic and antidepressant effects.

[Histochemical and morphometric evidence of the participation of dorsal hippocampal neurons in the antistress effect of melatonin].

The epiphyseal hormone melatonin (0.1 mg/kg) does not influence the functional state of pyramidal neurons in the dorsal hippocamp of intact rats, but decreases the swimming-stress-induced activation of these neurons. Removal of the pineal gland increased the functional activity of neurons in the intact rats and potentiated the stress-induced histochemical and morphometric changes.
