The UKCC has received well over a thousand responses to their proposals for community education and practice (CEP). Here we reproduce an extract from the response of the United Kingdom Standing Conference on health visitor education (UKSC) by Frances Appleby and Joy Merrell, UKSC chair and honorary treasurer respectively.
Health visitors must look beyond current challenges and pressures and continue to develop innovative practice based on identified client need, argues FRANCES APPLEBY. There is ample evidence that health visitor intervention is effective in improving child and maternal health and that of other client groups. Heath visitors should use this to promote their skills and role in health promotion and prevention of ill health.
