Clinical results of the triangular external fixation device in serious lesions of the lower extremity.

Several types of external fixation devices exist among which those of Judet, Hoffmann, Wagner and Müller can be picked out, each of which has definite applications. Confronted with difficulty in the use and the defect of mechanical rigidity, we have been led to design a new type of the triangular external fixation device. As open fractures of the limbs in stage II and IV of Duparc and Cauchoix, and pseudoarthrosis infected need a considerable stability in addition to careful surgical treatment, so after a comparative mechanical study, and after codifying the most rigid installation, we have used it on several traffic accident victims.

[Direct surgery of traumatic injuries of the radial nerve (author's transl)].

33 cases of traumatic lesions of the radial nerve are reported. Etiological features, prognosis, surgical treatment including micro-surgical techniques, leading to a larger indication of direct nerve repair are discussed. Recent nerve wounds must be repaired early. Surgical exploration will be carried out on unopened lesions when no recovery occurs within two months. According to the lesion, peri-fascicular neurolysis or fascicular resection-graft will be achieved. Tendon transfer techniques will be proposed only after one or two years without recovering, according to the level of the injury.

[Ender's flexible nail. Theoretical and biomechanical study. Technic, indications and results in the treatment of cervico-trochanteric fractures].

The authors describe the Ender's technique in the treatment of fractures of the trochanteric region. They realise a blind nailing, introducing "elastic" nails in the region of the medial condyle, under Xray control. The authors have conducted a biomechanical study comparing this type of nailing with nail-plating (extensometry and mathematical theory). 51 patients were operated-on. The results are analysed. The authors point out that the surgical procedure is very fast and simple, therefore they support it for aged people.
