Prophylactic appendicectomy due to foreign body. Case report.
A 11-year-old mentally ill male who had swallowed a metal necklace that has been lodged on the cecal appendix is presented. Because of the relatively high risk of an acute appendicitis a prophylactic appendicectomy was performed.
