[Correlation between ventricular volume calculated manually and by computer].

We present here a program of ventricular volumes measurements in which an area-lenght procedure and a digital computer were used. The results were compared with those obtained by the manual method using the same formula. The correlative estatistical analysis of these results showed a high index of 0.95 when compared to the telediastolic volumes obtained by both technics, while the index reached 0.99 in reference to the telesistolic volumes and the ejection fraction.

[Calculation of the left ventricular mass by means of angiography. Study in patients with and without hypertensive cardiopathy].

A modified Rackley et al technique for left ventricular mass calculations is applied to patients with concentric hypertrophy originated by hypertensive cardiopathy and to normal subjects. The values found in 8 normal subjects were 41 +/- 16 g/m2 of body surface and in 20 patients with hypertensive cardiopathy were 63 +/- 20 g/m2 (p = 0.01). The results obtained allow us to state that there is a clear difference between the ventricular mass of the two groups studied even though the values of ventricular volumes and of ventricular ejection fraction were not statistically significant in its variation.

[Value of the PLE and Q-PV in the diagnosis of atrioventricular disorders].

The values of the PLE and the Q-PV in the diagnosis of atrioventricular discordances are studied. In 9 patients precordiograms were registered in both ventricles and in 5 the intraventricular pressure curve was obtained by right or atrial retrograde catheterization. Statistical calculations were made in order to learn the similarities and limitations between the two different methods. In all of the cases the PLE of the anatomic left ventricle was less than in the right ventricle. The same was observed in the Q-PV intervals of both ventricles. The values of the p and r showed significantly high results.

[Determination of the real value of the ventricular volume using angiographic methods].

The developing of cuantitative angiographic procedures for evaluating the left ventricular efficiency have displaced most of the simple hemodynamic methods. The calculation of the left ventricular volume by usual ventriculography yields, as a rule, magnified values. The purpose of this paper is to determine the equation of the regression line means of which the real left ventricular volume can be calculated. A series of 12 normal hearts obtained from accidentaly deceased adult individuals (this necropsy material was afforded by the Forensic Medicine Department of México City). Previously measured amounts of a contrast substance were injected into the left ventricular cavity. The heart was filmed in a position equivalent to the chest RAO. The volume of the left ventricle was calculated using monoplane Sandler and Dodge cineventriculographic method. The results were submitted to statistic analysis. Confrontation of calculated and real values rendered a significative "r" (0.7374) and a non-significant "p" (0.001) the regression equation obteined was: y=36.97 + (0.39 x) in which: y=real left ventricular volume. x=calculated left ventricular volume.
