Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans: experience with 14 cases.

Dermatofibrosarcoma is a rare, low-grade malignant skin tumour that can be considered the equivalent of malignant non-cutaneous soft tissue fibrohistiocytoma. The high rate of recurrence of this tumour is correlated with poor surgical management because lesions, often smaller than 2 cm in diameter, may be confused with dermatofibroma or keloid. Our findings confirm the importance of accurate diagnosis of primary lesions and the need for aggressive surgical treatment (excision of 5 cm of surrounding tissue) to lower the incidence of local relapse.

[Sensitivity test to antifungal agents: results relative to 150 strains of yeasts].

In vitro sensitivity of 150 yeast strains has been evaluated with diffusion method in solid medium. In order to 9 antifungal agents available at present in disk for the in vitro sensitivity test has been utilized. The authors emphasize the importance to perform methodically in vitro sensitivity underlined, so that specific therapy carry out.

[Uxoricide in Italy].

The Authors, after having studied the specific literature on the subject, publish data regarding 27 women who were victims of uxoricide. The adoption of a victimological viewpoint permits hypothesizing that: 1) it is sociological factors that seem to be fundamental to determining the classes of the women who are more subject to this specific danger; 2) bio-physio-psychological factors seem to be relevant to determining which women, within the class subject to this specific danger, are unable to recognize their danger, or, though having recognized it, are unable to avoid it; 3) factors extraneous to the victim, inherent in the personality structure of the perpetrators of the crime and in their cultural values (as well as in the various meanings that the uxoricide, at both the conscious and the unconscious levels, may take on for the man when he is committing it) appear to be, in most cases, determining for any specific event.

[Sulpiride treatment of schizophrenics. Endocrine effects and aggressivity].

This work describes the results obtained with the use of a pharmaceutical product, sulpiride, whose effect is not yet completely known in the psychiatric field and which has precise indications in general medicine in the treatment of dizzy syndromes and for its strong antiemetic action. The drug was used by us in the treatment of schizophrenic criminals, in about 100 cases between 1973 and today. From the clinical point of view it was noted that the antipsychotic efficiency is a little difficult to forecast, while the resocializing action is more incisive. About the fifth day of treatment there is a "veering" characteristic of the clinical symptomatology which we related to a high and constant level of prolactinemy, which reaches its highest point on the fifth day. The implications concerning a probable hormonal substrate of the aggressiveness are very clearly revealed and can be considered together with those already known of the importance for control of the hypophysis-surrenal axis. At the same time it is necessary to point out the delicacy of the problem represented by the possibility of a modifying action from outside in relation to the general manifestations of behaviour; in the psychiatric field, in particular, without a contemporary influence of appreciable dimensions on the fundamental nucleus of the disease.
