[Animal experiments to study use of CO2 laser for salpingolysis (author's transl)].

The animal experiments reported in this paper were applied to the uterine cornu of rabbit for the purpose of finding out whether CO2 laser could be used for successful salpingolysis. -Continuous intraluminal pH measurement was undertaken along with laser irradiation. Second-look operations were performed and accompanied by repeated pH measurement and histological tissue tests, after four weeks had elapsed from irradiation, in an attempt to verify radiation effects. Short-time pH decline was observed. Neither any adhesion nor induration was found to exist any longer in the irradiated area, four weeks after surgery. Low-residue healing of the uterine cornua, with no involvement of internal functional layers, was histologically confirmed. - The above experiments are likely to show that laser radiation has been of little functional and morphological impact upon the uterine cornu of rabbit. The authors, therefore, support the idea of using CO2 laser in salpingolysis to cut adhesions close to the fallopian tube and to stop bleeding at the same time.

[The protective effect of piracetam during delivery].

It was evaluated by continuous cardiotocogram-, tcpO2-and EEG-registration sub partu to what extend these parameters are influenced by application of Piracetam (10 g i.v./h) to the mother. A group of 26 primigravida between 18 and 23 years of age with normal course of delivery at term was analyzed. Piracetam was applicated to 17 patients in the beginning of cervix dilatation, whereas the other patients got Laevulose as a placebo infusion. The results permit the conclusion that Piracetam provides a stabilization of cerebral functions with a certain resistence against transient hypoxia during the expulsion period. The EEG-registration demonstrates after application of Piracetam an activation of alpha-waves with simultaneous reduction of delta-waves, the CTG shows a reduced quantity of decelerations during the expulsion period. The data obtained by computerization correlate with the Apgar-Index (fetal outcome) after application of Piracetam, which was better than 9 in all cases.

[Reconstructive microsurgery in use of CO2-laser (author's transl)].

CO2-Laser is presented for application in reconstructive operations. At cornua uteri and urine bladders of rabbits excisions were undertaken. The free wound edges were approximated and coagulated by laser irradiation. After these operations 70% (uterus) respectively 90% (urine bladder) of the organs remained fully functionable.

[Fetal death in utero 15 weeks following amniocentesis -- a legal case (author's transl)].

This is a report about fetal death in utero in a case of monozygote, monochrionic, monoamnionic twin pregnancy (46,xy) 15 weeks after amniocentesis. The public prosecutor was occupied with the case by the patient. The accusation run as follows: Stab wound with following death in utero of one twin and thereby damage of the second twin also with following death in utero. Directly after delivery the first diagnosis by aspect of the fetuses was: transfusion syndrome. The following endoradiography of the blood vessels of the umbilical chords and placenta confirmed the first diagnosis (anastomosis). Additionally both chords were entangled and knotted variously. It was concluded that the extremely smaller fetus died from malnutrition (transfusion syndrome) whereas the taller fetus died from acute asphyxia (knotted chords in monoamnionic twin pregnancy). The forensic investigation was, as aspected, without any pathological findings concerning sequelae of stab wounds but revealed the lack of one chordvessel of the smaller fetus and the typical histological findings of an aspiration lung of the taller fetus.

[A new experimental procedure of intraamniotic application of substances in multiparous experimental animals (author's transl)].

In order to proof the distribution and metabolizing of various substances experimental operation models in animals were developed. The placental transfer was examined in guinea pigs and rabbits; while metabolism was studied in the Göttinger miniature pig. The presented model enables us to examine the following compartments: maternal organism, placenta, amniotic fluid and fetus.

[Surgical refertilization by means of laser technic. Animal experimental study].

Animal experiments on rabbits with a CO2 laser concerning end-to-end-anastomosis of cornua uteri are reported. The rate of success of this laser technique by a before investigated optimal energy density of 64 Watt sec/cm2 (8 Watt,0,2 sec) was about 70% deliveries without any complication. This method could be an alternative to the presently used microsurgical methods of refertilisation in human tubar sterility.

[Prevention and therapy of respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants by means of bromhexine metabolite VIII. Animal experimental studies on the therapeutic efficacy of bromhexine metabolite VIII in premature respiratory distress syndrome].

In preparing a clinical study 14C-labelled bromhexine metabolite VIII was applied intraamnially in animal experiments. The distribution was measured in different maternal and fetal organs by thinlayer chromatography and autoradiography. A complete placental passage was found in both directions. An organspecific accumulation in the fetal lungs could not be demonstrated.

[Continuous intrauterine pO2 determination in the fetus during birth].

A study about continuous intrauterine pO2-measurement of the human fetus sub partu. It is reported about a continuous intrauterine unbloody pO2-measurement of the human fetus sub partu. There was found a good correlation in different cardiotocographic patterns between labour, fetal heart frequency and pO2-registration.

[Prevention and therapy of the respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants using lecithin. Distribution of 14C--labeled lecithin after intravenous and intraamnial administration in pregnant miniature pigs?].

The aim of our researches was to point out a new therapeutical possibility to prevent a respiratory distress syndrome of prematures by application of 14C-lecithine. The experiments were carried out at Göttinger mini-pigs. Examining the placental passage it could be determined that an intravenous application was not efficient, while after intraamnial application of lecithine a rapid resorption in the fetal organism was proved. Of special interest was a high accumulation of lecithine in the fetal lung-tissue. These results indicate a possible therapeutical way to prevent a respiratory distress syndrome by lecithine substitution.

[Intraamnial application of 14C-labeled lecithine at man 13 hrs. ante partum (author's transl)].

It was examined, whether by intraamnial applicated lecithine an approaching respiratory distress syndrome could be prevented. This possibility of therapy was tested on a fetus unviable of life. It was shown by examining the lavage-fluid of the fetal lung, as well as the organ homogenates of lung; liver and gut, that the intraamnial applicated lecithine was metabolised and resynthesised in the organism. In the lung the lecithine was present as a complete molecule.

[Intraamniotic application of lecithin in pregnant rabbits (author's transl)].

In order to find possibilities to influence therapeutically the respiratory distress syndrom at the premature infant animal experiences were carried out with 14C-lecithine. High pregnant rabbits got 14C-lecithine by intraamnial application. Investigation of the distribution of lecithine in the amniotic fluid and in the fetal organism showed an accumulation of lecithine metabolits in lung and lever tissue.

[Course observation after intra-amniotic administration of lecithin in premature cesarean section].

A report of a 36 year old patient is given who was hospitalized because of an erythroblastosis. An indicated sectio caesarea resulted in an intraamnial application of lecithine for preventing a respiratory distress syndrome. It can be concluded by the measured lecithin-concentration that a high phospholipid-level in the amniotic fluid leads to an increased resorption by the fetus. Postpartal investigations showed a completely normal lung function in the newborne.
