[Kawasaki disease. Description of a case with atypical onset and course].

The authors, pointing out this case, intend to lay emphasis upon the possibility that, within a clinical-nosological entity complex itself, there were atypic forms (persisting pulmonary infiltration, marked hepatosplenomegaly, noticeably delayed thrombocitosis), for which only a careful estimate of all the elements permits the diagnosis.

[Prognostic evaluation of the cardiopathy in Duchenne's muscular dystrophy].

As it has now been ascertained that there is cardiac damage during the course of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), the authors have aimed at evaluating the relationship existing between the development of heart damage with respect to the advancement of age, and, at finding a sure prognostic index of the illness, easily acquired by using non-invasive techniques. Whilst the parameters which show the behaviour of the pumping function of the left ventricle (EF, Delta D%) did not demonstrate a clear correlation regarding their alteration in relation to age, the relationship PEP/LVET showed an accuracy of 92% predicting the terms of survival of patients suffering from DMD.

[Surgical treatment of calcaneal spurs].

74 operations for the removal of calcaneal spurs at the "G. Pini" Orthopaedic Clinic in Milan over the post 20 years have been examined. After a brief summary of the main aetiopathogenetic theories, the symptomatological picture and various surgical techniques, and the data on the cases encountered are analysed. A high percentage of failures is reported. It is hoped that all cases of talalgia due to calcaneal spur will initially be given conservative therapy. Only if this fails should surgery be considered.

[Laser-assisted angioplasty in the treatment of obliterations of the iliac-femoral axis].

In the last years, intraluminal techniques and instrumentations grown from the primitive concept of balloon angioplasty, have made an incredible leap among these techniques, Laser assisted balloon angioplasty plays, in selected cases, an important role in the treatment of vascular occlusive disease. The focus of this report will be to present the preliminary experience of the authors about the use of this technique, in the treatment of 18 patients with atherosclerotic occlusive iliac-femoro-popliteal disease. In spite of short number of cases; they try to focalize indications, limits and principal complications of the technique.
