[Simple technic for the specific detection of the protective effectiveness of bacterial antigens].

A simple method is given for the specific proof of protective immunogenicity of bacterial antigens. Antibody-antigen-complexes isolated by immunoelectrophoresis are applied for immunization of mice. The subsequent challenge with live virulent bacteria gives information about the protective immunity of the mice. When using that technique, special isolation and purification of the antigens is not necessary.

[A method for the threedimensional determination of symmetry in the mid-face].

An apparatus to determine normal, traumatic and ontogenic facial asymmetry was developed which scans the mid-face profile three dimensionally, according to the raster principle. Nine horizontal profile lines for the metric and optic comparison of both sides are produced over a computer. The results of the measurements were presented for normal subjects and patients following trauma to the mide-face (total, 100).

Some analytical results about a simple reaction-diffusion system for morphogenesis.

The reaction-diffusion system considered involves only one nonlinear term and is a gradient system. In a bifurcation analysis for the equilibrium states, the global existence of infinitely many solution branches can be shown by the method of Ljusternik-Schnirelmann. Their stability is studied. Using a Ljapunov functional it can be shown that the solutions of the time-dependent system converge to the equilibrium states.
