[Quantitative growth analysis of limbic nuclei areas fresh volume in diencephalon and mesencephalon of an albino mouse ontogenic series. I. Nucleus habenulare].

The fresh volumes of the Nucl. mediales et laterales habenulae of 52 male white mice aged between 17 and 60 days of ontogenesis have been determined. The data of both nuclei have been fitted by a sum of logistic functions. There is an increasing component and a decreasing component. The degree of maturity and its differential quotient have been discussed. The Nucl. medialis habenulae belongs to those structures of the central nervous system developing extremely early, the Nucl. lateralis habenulae belongs to those structures of the central nervous system developing extremely early, the Nucl. lateralis habenulae belongs to those structures developing early. It has been pointed out, that there is a complex heterochrony of regional development in the brain. There have to be more quantitative analyses.

[Quantitative growth analysis of limbic nuclei areas fresh volume in diencephalon and mesencephalon of an albino mouse ontogenic series. III. Nucleus interpe-uncularis].

The fresh volume of the Nucl. interpeduncularis of 52 white mice aged between 17 and 60 days of ontogenesis has been determined. The data have been fitted by the logistic function and the ideal volume (0.32 mm3) the half value time (21.6 days of ontogenesis) and the factor of enlargement (2.65) have been derived. The Nucl. interpeduncularis is one of the early and fast growing brain regions. The growth parameters of this nucleus have been discussed and have been compared with the parameters of other cortical and subcortical limbic brain regions.

[Criteria for the choice of a system in medicine (author's transl)].

The attempt to define the choice of a system in medicine becomes lost in complex functional requirements. Experience shows that, not only in medicine, the choice of a system is usually made according to very subjective criteria. Objective "criteria" are then supposed to justify the choice. To improve this situation, in future, system investigations will have to be carried out which will enable definition and measurement of suitable variables.

Data Display

[Findings on the functional planning of dentures].

Analysis of over 20,000 prosthetic treatments carried out in the area of one association of dentists working under the compulsory public health insurance plan shows that prior to the conclusion of the new financial agreements on prosthetics, a treatment plan based on the findings and aiming at appropriate functional rehabilitation had been prepared in half of all the cases only.

Denture Design

[Spontaneous degeneration of neurons of the Nucl. tractus mesenceph. n. trigemini during the perinatal period of an ontogenic series of Albino mice].

The spontaneous degeneration of neurons of the Nucl. tractus mesenceph. n. trigemini of 33 male NMRI-mice between 19 and 60 days of ontogenesis has been analyzed fitting the exponential function (see article). The number of neurons decreases from 1500 at birth to 1200 at the adult level. The damping of the curve is 4.8. This nucleus is compared with other nuclei of the albino mouse (Nucl. n. oculomotorii, Nucl. cochleares dorsalis et ventralis). The spontaneous reduction of the number of neurons seems to be a common phenomen during the perinatal time of the mammals. There is a heterochronous reduction for the different analyzed nuclei.

[Determination of the number of cells with multiple nucleoli in histological sections (author's transl)].

A method has been described for correction of a bias, when cells with more than one nucleolus are counted by counting their nucleoli. The true numbers of cells and nucleoli per cell can be estimated by a system of linear equations, with coefficients depending on the thickness of the histological specimen, the average nuclear diameter and the probabilities of nuclear slices, which one gets by cutting a cell nucleus with a certain number of nucleoli. The presuppositions for this method have been discussed with respect to different practical situations. Uncorrected and corrected numbers of motoneurons in the nucl. n. oculomotorii of Tupaia belangeri have been compared.
