[Surgical results of dissection of the superficial temporal artery in patients with preglaucoma and initial open-angle glaucoma].

Results of superficial temporal artery dissection performed in 42 patients (44 eyes) with preglaucoma and initial open-angle glaucoma have shown no impairement of visual field, visual acuity, optic disc in the period from 0.5 to 1.5 years after it. The increased linear rate of bloodflow after the operation remained stable in 17 eyes of patients with preglaucoma and in 14 eyes of patients with glaucoma. Intraocular pressure became normalized in 20 and 19 eyes as well as intraocular fluid outflow in 14 and 13 eyes, respectively. In both groups there was a tendency to normalization of retinal functions and hydrodynamics of the eye. Thus, the operation produces improvement of regional bloodflow, tonographic and electrophysiologic indices. Its usage is considered to be reasonable, but, when determining indications to it, an individual approach is necessary.

[Crystallography of the lacrimal fluid as a method for predicting the risk of developing cataract in patients with primary glaucoma].

Results of crystallographic analysis of the lacrimal fluid in patients with glaucoma combined with cataract are analyzed. The characteristic features of lacrimal crystallograms of such patients consist in changed ratio of the crystallization zones with disappearance of the intermediate zone and appearance of stellate structures on crystallograms of patients with progressing cataracts. The method of lacrimal crystallography is suggested to be used in examinations of patients with glaucoma.

[The retinal pigment epithelium in patients with sclerotic macular dystrophy before and after transection of the superficial temporal artery].

The authors have examined the effect of crossing the superficial temporal artery on the retinal pigmented epithelium in patients with sclerotic macular dystrophy. Three groups of patients with different initial values of electrooculogram Arden's coefficient were examined. Circulation in the vascular membrane of the eye has improved in 76% of patients after surgery. This lead to the normalization of Arden's coefficient in cases with the initially abnormal parameters, which fact evidences the improvement of the retinal pigmented epithelium function after the operation.

[Clinico-angiographic indications for surgical intersection of the superficial temporal artery in patients with central chorioretinal dystrophy].

Clinical and angiographic assessment of the status of 28 patients with sclerotic central chorioretinal dystrophy, carried out before and after surgery, has revealed a discrepancy between the improved hemodynamics in the orbital artery and vascular coating and the clinical results of the operation. Analysis of the fluorescent angiograms of the fundus oculi has helped detect the patients with the 'dry' and pseudotumorous forms of the disease, for whom crossing the superficial temporal artery is indicated.
