Exposure to resinous woods away from the place of production has been little studied, or poorly recognised as creating allergy. The dusts are involved in bronchial and ocular pathologies. The significance of tests to wood must take into account the state of oxidation. Symptoms vary as a function of occupation, post, dustiness and pathological history. Atopy has no effect on the symptoms.

In this article the authors start by going over the anatomical and neuro-physiological pathways of transmission of painful nerve impulses from the periphery to the centres. Pain is a "sensation" which is integrated in both a psychological and an emotional context. Psycho-physiological studies show that the cortex of the brain therefore plays a basic role in this integration and this allows us to consider the psycho-prophylaxis of delivery. Certain failures of psychoprophylaxis demonstrate the role of cultural factors and of factors that are specific to the subject of the pain of labour. The latter are dominated by anxiety, wich is at the same time due to the circumstances of the labour and of the individual patient. The latter stem from several sources: fear of death, separation, guilt and castration. There is one more psychological element that seems to be equally important and that is, morbid narcissism. The obstetrician should fight against the patient's anxieties which will thwart his work and disturb the onward progress of the labour. He will usually succeed but not always by the pathways that he thinks he is taking.
With reference to two cases of epidermoid cyst of the testes, it is recalled that testicular tumors are rarely benign (3% of cases); among these the epidermoid cyst remains exceptional. This tumor is always benign, with no degenerative potential, as long as it exists in the pure form. Only the histological examination permits one to affirm that it is an isolated epidermoid cyst without any other teratomatous constituent. Simple orchidectomy is the treatment of choice for this tumor.
The authors report a case of horseshoe kidney responsible for hypertension through a one-sided renal dysplasia. The part of the renal malformation in the development of the hypertension is attested by the activities of renin from renal veins, by the isotopic nephrogram and by the disappearance of the hypertension following the heminephrectomy. The hypertension seems an exceptionnal complication of the horseshoe kidney, which can be surprising given the frequency of this malformation and associated urologic anomalies.
