Oncicola martini sp. n., and other archiacanthocephala of the Chaco Boreal, Paraguay.

Archiacanthocephalans are reported from mammals of Paraguay. Oncicola martini sp. n. is described from Felis geoffroyi. It is most similar to O. lamasi (Freitas et Costa 1964) comb. n., differing in having larger hooks, all except the smallest of which are barbed. Other species recorded are Oncicola oncicola from Felis geoffroyi (new host record), O. paracampanulata from Felis yagouaroundi, O. luehei from Nasua nasua, Oligacanthorhynchus microcephala from Didelphis albiventris, and O. tortuosa from Euphractus sexcinctus (new host and South American records).

Helminths of reptiles from Komodo and Flores Islands, Indonesia, with descriptions of two new nematode species.

Helminths were examined from 12 different species of reptiles from Komodo and Flores Islands, Indonesia. Eight species of nematodes and 5 species of cestodes were identified. Spinicauda komodoensis sp. n. (Oxyurata) is characterized by a gubernaculum 295 micronm long. Trichoskrjabinia secundus sp. n. (Trichostrongylidae) differs from T. malayana (Baylis 1933) Travassos 1937, the only other species in the genus, by being shorter overall and having a shorter female esophagus and smaller eggs, spicules, and gubernaculum. Six new host records and 8 new geographical records are listed.

Tapeworms from Philippine birds, with three new species of Raillietina (Raillietina).

13 species of cestodes from 13 species of Philippine birds are reported from Palawan Island. Raillietina (R.) palawanensis n. sp., from Chalcophaps i. indica, has three or four testes, and a cirrus pouch 93 to 108 mum long, 28 to 45 mum wide, and its egg capsules are 10 to 12 mum long, seven to nine mum wide, each containing four to six eggs. Raillietina (R.) passeriformicola n. sp., from Gracula religiosa palawanensis, has seven to nine testes, and a cirrus poucch 134 to 170 mum long, 47 to 68 mum wide. Its egg capsules are 79 to 115 mum wide, containing 7 to 12 eggs each. Raillietina (R.) fischthali n. sp., from Ducula aenea palawanensis, has 12 to 15 testes, and a cirrus pouch 130 to 150 mum long, 52 to 72 mum wide. Its egg capsules are 130 to 200 mum wide each containing 50 to 70 eggs. Raillietina (R.) johri Ortlepp, 1938, is redescribed. Anonchotaenia chauhani Mukherjee, 1965 is shown to be a junior synonym of A. gaugi Singh, 1952.

Parasitic helminths of the American avocet Recurvirostra americana: four new species of the families Hymenolepididae and Acoleidae (Cestoda: Cyclophyllidae).

Records are presented of 11 species of parasitic helminths recovered from 37 American avocets. Birds were collected in Kansas and Colorado from April 1973 to August 1974. Parsites found included 3 trematodes, 2 nematodes, 1 acanthocephalan and 5 cestodes, 4 of which are new species. Hymenolepis cervotestis sp.n. (Hymenolepididae) is described from the small intestine of 7 avocets. It exhibits extreme protandry with the testes appearing before external segmentation is evident. Sobolevicanthus coloradensis sp.n. (Hymenolepididae) is described from the small intestine of 4 avocets. This species is found to have its scolex embedded in the intesttinal mucosa of its host. Diorchis recurvirostrae sp.n. (Hymenolepididae) is described from specimens recovered from the small intestine of 5 avocets. Diplophallus coili sp.n. (Acoleidae) is described from the small intestine of all 37 avocets. The family Diploposthidae is suppressed and the family Acoleidae is emended to include the 4 genera previously placed in Diploposthidae. A key to the genera of Acoleidae is presented.

Nematode parasites of Puerto Rican tree frogs, Eleutherodactylus spp: two new species and a proposal of Poekilostrongylus gen. nov. (Trichostrongylidae).

Poekilostrongylus puertoricensis gen.nov., sp.nov. is proposed for nematodes recovered from Eleutherodactylus coqui, in Puerto Rico. The new genus is similar to Oswaldocruzia Travassos, 1917, but lacks longitudinal ridges on the cuticle. Oswaldocruzia lenteixierai Viqueras, 1938, is partially redescribed, and a key to the genera of the Oswaldocruziinae is given. Thelandros (Parathelandros) garciai sp.nov. is described from E. antillensis and E. portoricensis. Strongyloides sp. was found in E. antillensis and Aplectana spp. (females) were recovered from E. locustus, E. richmondi and E. coqui.

Andracantha, a new genus of Acanthocephala (Polymorphidae) from fish-eating birds, with descriptions of three species.

Problems in taxonomy of the Polymorphidae are discussed, with particular reference to trunk spines. Andracantha gen. n. is proposed for species with genital spines and 2 fields of trunk spines. Corynosoma gravida Alegret 1941, C. mergi Lundstroöm 1941 and C. phalacrocoracis Yamaguti 1939 are redescribed and placed in Andracantha, with A. gravida (Alegret, 1941) comb. n. designated as type species.
