[Reconstructive interventions in bone defects. A case contribution].

In this case-report we have shown the planning, treatment and result of reconstructional operations of bone defects of 5 operated and reexamined patients. Both the extent of the implantation, the bed of the implantation, the bone graft and the fixation are important. The superiority of the cortico-spongious splinter shall be emphasized. With respect to clinical and x-ray controlled examination the healing process results were good, requiring an individual treatment for each single case.

[Treatment of gonarthrosis].

In an open study in 89 out-patients the effect of superoxide dismutase (Orgotein) in gonarthrosis (n = 75), post-operative or post-traumatic irritation (n = 8) and chondropathy (n = 6) was investigated. Orgotein (4 mg) was give intra-articularly once weekly for several weeks. The overall rating showed efficacy of this new antiphlogistic compound in 81 out of 89 patients (91%). In eight patients the results of treatment were insufficient. In 65 (80%) out of the 81 successfully treated patients no relapse appeared. Six patients reported reappearance of slight complaints so that in 75 out of 81 successfully treated patients, even after repeated controls, a long lasting pain relief could be achieved. Only in three cases the tolerance of Orgotein was not assessed as "very good" ("good" in one case and "moderate" in two cases). The patients reacted--despite good tolerance of the first injections--after the 4th or 5th injections with irritation and swelling as well as effusion; these symptoms were reversible within 24 hours.

[Physical therapy in the rehabilitation of intervertebral disk surgery patients. Contribution to the goal-oriented postoperative management using the example of Brunkow's isometric exercises].

The rehabilitation of patients who underwent an intervertebral disc operation is, inter alia, decisively determined by after-care. In this context, attention must be drawn to the post-surgical goal-oriented physical therapy which is important for the healing process, re-adaptation and duration of treatment. The Brunkow special isometric exercises bring about a quick and permanent re-adaptation and provide a good basis for the patient's exercise at home.

[Results in forearm prostheses (author's transl)].

A survey is given on 60 cases of forearm-amputationes, the properties of different prostheses are discussed. Based on questioning and experiences in changes of artificial limbs general conditions for limb fitting are worked out. Beside the function special attention was payed to the cosmetic results.

[Ortheses applied in the rehabilitation of the paralysed (author's transl)].

An important pre-requisite for the rehabilitation of paralysed persons is a substantial restitution of the static stabilisation and functional adjustment to the changed situation. From a large number of technical aids used for this purpose, the article reports on the application and first experiences gained with three new types of ortheses.
