This article reports on the introduction of a school-based health team consisting of a physician, nurse, social worker, and secretary. The author describes his experience in providing school-based health services in an underprivileged population in a small dormitory town in eastern France. The article discusses the process of developing both a public health and service delivery program. The process of modifying the program based on better understanding of the socioeconomic and cultural context is described by the author as he gained a better understanding of the population. The article emphasizes the needs of teenagers, many with high risk behaviors, and concludes with recommendations for similar projects based on this experience.
X-ray lung diagnosis in an intensive-care unit makes special demands on technique, imaging and on the physician's experience. The quality of image interpretation and evaluation is considerably improved by superimposing the technical data on the x-ray image and by using an antiscatter grid cassette. Proper evaluation of the parameters important for diagnosis is improved by registration of the data on the x-ray film; taking a maximum possible score of 100 as reference value, quality of evaluation is improved from 66.5 points to 71.8 points by data registration on the film itself, whereas the simultaneous use of an antiscatter grid cassette improves the score still further, namely, to 84.3 points. The importance of the clinical condition of the patient, and of the type of breathing chosen, for assessing the chest x-ray, is emphasised.
The computer tomographic appearances of space-occupying lesions in the renal pelvis in 15 patients are described, and the place of CT in the radiological diagnosis is discussed. The clinical symptoms of renal tumours are often not characteristic, and conventional radiological methods frequently produce nonspecific appearances. Computed tomography, which is non-invasive, is therefore a suitable method for diagnosing space-occupying lesions in the renal pelvis at an early stage. Prognosis depends greatly on extra-pelvic spread, which can be demonstrated by CT alone.

The authors present an indirect method for the visualization of the anterior crucial ligament, using the method of sagittal reconstruction. Positioning in the so-called tailor's seat is often impossible in freshly injured persons. The abdominal positioning described in this article, with external rotation of the leg, is tolerated by almost all patients. Sagittal reconstruction yields adequate information in fresh lesions and if there is an obstruction to bending. However, this method is diagnostically not as infallible as the direct visualization. The authors discuss whether additional reconstructions on different planes and with pixels of different thickness (so-called thick pixel reconstruction) may be able to contribute to improved diagnostic results in future. In addition, the authors compare their own examination results with normal and pathological findings published by other authors.

The visualisation of the papillary renal adenoma is demonstrated on the basis of a case report, using the classical and modern x-ray methods including sonography. However, it is only the on-target puncture which enables an accurate diagnosis of the type of adenoma.
