[X-ray diagnosis of injuries of middle and distal parts of the hand].

384 victims aged 1 to 14 years with damages of middle and distal hand parts were examined. The rate of osteo-epiphysiolysis, hand damages without affection of zone of growth in different short bones of hand is presented. Significant group of damages is composed of subperiosteal fractures and osteo-epiphysiolysis. Special features of different types of osteo-epiphysiolysis and roentgenologic signs which differ them from juxta-epiphyseal fractures are described. Of special significance in diagnosis of osteo-epiphysiolysis is the "bone lamina" sign and uneven expansion of the zone of growth.

[Tomography of the maxillary sinus].

The maxillary sinuses were studied roentgenographically and tomographically in 108 patients (with intact sinuses) and in 16 anatomical preparations of the cranium. It has been established that the main features of the laminar picture of the maxillary sinuses can be determined by two main properties of tomography as a method: the possibility to lead the portions of the sinus osseous walls of greater-length as compared with conventional roentgenography out to the edge-forming zone due to oblique course of the ray beam, and vise versa, disappearance of outlines of these walls in those sections where they are considerably inclined in relation to the roentgen film plane. A description of the laminar roentgen-anatomical picture of the maxillary sinuses in naso-frontal, nasomental and lateral projections is presented. It is stresses that in each of these projections several main types of the laminar picture of the maxillary sinuses can be detected, characterizing different depth of sections.

[X-ray anatomy of the maxillary sinuses].

In a complex roentgenological investigation of 12 anatomical preparations of the cranium and of 100 isolated maxillary bones (including multiplane roentgenography and the artificial contrasting of the antrum of Highmore) it has been established that in adult people the maxillary sinuses have as a rule, a shape of an irregular truncated pyramid (96%), rarely - a rounded shape. The standard roentgenograms of the cranium can reveal comparatively small portions of osseous walls of the maxillary sinuses. Special spot-films are necessary for studying the sinus walls on their full length.

Altogether 40 thymic tumor patients were investigated. Radiograms and pneumomediastinograms were subjected to processing aposteriori (increased contrast and spatial filtration). Spatial filtration improved selective analysis of spatial frequencies of imaging. Processing of images specified diagnosis of thymomas by underlining the shapes of normal and abnormal mediastinal formations and signs of invasion of the pericardium and pleura.

[Destructive changes in the spine during ankylosing spondylarthritis].

Destructive changes in vertebral bodies, mainly in the thoracic part, zones of rearrangement and pseudoarthrosis are revealed in Bekhterev's disease. These changes develop in advanced stages of this disease in the form of subligamentous destruction of the anterior surface of vertebral bodies, limited destruction in the area of anterior parts in the zone of intervertebral disks, superficial destruction of cranial and caudal body plates with shortening of a height of an intervertebral disk, deep destruction of adjacent surfaces of vertebral bodies with expansion of intervertebral spaces.

[Image processing of thymus gland tumors].

Altogether 40 thymic tumor patients were investigated. Radiograms and pneumomediastinograms were subjected to processing a posteriori (increased contrast and spatial filtration). Spatial filtration improved selective analysis of spatial frequencies of imaging. Processing of images specified diagnosis of thymomas by underlining the shapes of normal and abnormal mediastinal formations and signs of invasion of the pericardium and pleura.
