It happens that maxillary cuspids do not follow their normal path of eruption and remain impacted. We have reviewed the files of patients presenting with this anomaly and determined which surgical and orthodontic treatments they have received, with the help of a removable appliance.
Osteomyelitis is described as an inflammation of bone and bone marrow that may develop in the jaws following a chronic odontogenic infection or for a variety of other reasons. This situation may be acute, sub-acute or chronic, resulting in a totally different clinical picture.
This article briefly describes the fundamental principles associated with the development of cancerous cells in man. The manner in which these neoplastic cells appear and spread are discussed. A better understanding of these phenomena will allow the practitioner to realize the importance and necessity of a systematic evaluation of all patients.
This second article deals with the application of basic oncology principles which are described in relation to present research trends in oral oncology. The importance of the immunological aspects relative to detection and treatment in conjunction with a better understanding of the risk factors involved are hallmarks of this recent research.
