A group of nurse managers developed the shared governance multidisciplinary team to provide horizontal interdepartmental communication. Employees identify problems interfering with patient-care delivery and develop solutions to improve patient services.
The effect of an innovative educational technique using pocket-sized problem-solving cards on staff nurses' knowledge of the peritoneal dialysis cycler was examined. While there was no significant difference on knowledge scores between the experimental and control groups, a significant difference was found on pretest and posttest scores when the groups were combined.
