Personality disorders and how to deal with them.
Personality disorders cause a significant degree of suffering for those who have them and in some cases, for those who come in contact with people who have them. This includes medical practitioners. Dealing effectively with these patients requires an understanding of where they are coming from psychologically. Relying on gut level reaction will not usually be therapeutic. Some potential pitfalls in dealing with this group of patients are highlighted in this article.
