[Sinus node vascularization in the black African].

The aim of this study is to identify in 43 adults African hearts the different arteries of the sinus node. The method used is the injection corrosion technic of the coronary vessels. This study conclude that the right coronary system is the principal way of irrigation of sinus node in Africans (46.6% of cases).

[The left renal retro-aortic vein: report of three cases].

This study investigated the congenital retro-aortic left renal vein in three subjects, observed in dissection practice. Comparative morphometric analysis is made about vein and artery and their collaterals. The importance and the contribution of this left retro-aortic renal vein are discussed with reference to his embryologic and clinical aspect implication.

[The musculo-fascial graft from the elevator muscle of the anus. Importance for plastic surgery of the bladder in the treatment of obstetric vesico-vaginal fistulas].

The levator ano-muscle and fascia are studied by females pelvis. The muscle is composed of three groups of fibres: the puborectalis muscle, the ilococcygeus and the ischiococcygeus muscles. The muscular fascial graft is dissected from the superior fibers of puborectalis muscle and placed in front of the lateral face of the bladder. In this regard, the anatomical and clinical knowledges are provided and morphometric and morphologic studies proposed this graft as the inter-vesico-vaginal plasty in treatment of vesico-vaginal fistulae.

Covered anus with anocutaneous fistula: the muscular sphincters.

A rare specimen of a covered anus with anocutaneous fistula obtained from a newborn female baby was subjected to macroexamination and microexamination to determine the anatomy of the sphincters and the levatores musculature. The internal sphincter and the deep voluntary sphincters, albeit slightly modified, were well developed but the sphincters in the perineum were absent or rudimentary. The pelvic muscles were present even in the absence of the sacrum up to and including the second sacral vertebra.

Supernumerary kidney.

We studied 58 case reports of patients with supernumerary kidneys to determine the morphology, vagaries and embryogenesis of this rare and poorly documented anomaly. The supernumerary kidney usually was located caudal to the ipsilateral kidney when subserved by a bifid ureter and cranially when the ureters were separate. The Weigert-Meyer law for duplex fused kidneys was obeyed by the supernumerary ureter in most fully documented cases of double ureters. Pathologic conditions of the upper urinary tract occurred in more than 50 per cent of the patients with a bifid system, who were prone to have hydronephrosis and calculous disease, and with a double system, who were prone to have complications resulting from supernumerary ureteral ectopia. Double tails to the nephrogenic cords, each induced by a branch of a bifid bud or by 1 of 2 separate buds as opposed to tandem inductions of a single metanephros, were regarded as the probable embryogenesis.

[Scalp pediculosis in school environment in the city of Abidjan: prevalence and influence of socioeconomic conditions].

Hair samples from 2,209 children aged between 4 and 15 years were analyzed in March and April 1997 in an epidemiological study. We found that the prevalence of scalp pediculosis in schools in Abidjan was 18.51%. The girls were more frequently infected than the boys (24.88% for girls and 11.85% for boys). The children most frequently affected were those aged 14 to 15 years (24%) or 6 to 7 years (23. 21%). The children least affected were those aged 12 to 13 years (15. 21%) or 10 to 11 years (16.21%). Socioeconomic conditions, particularly the monthly incomes of the parents, cramped conditions and the collective use of washing facilities and bedding affected the prevalence of scalp pediculosis. Measures to deal with scalp pediculosis in schools should take into account socioeconomic and psychological factors, which are as important as the drug treatment for scalp pediculosis.
