Comparative study of antirotational single tooth abutments.

Identifying the functional and mechanical limitations of single tooth implant systems is essential for the long-term success of the restoration. Three designs with different prosthetic connections were evaluated with their corresponding single tooth abutments for structural integrity and cyclic fatigue. The internal implant octagon was the weakest connection under off-axis impact loading and lateral loading, and the external hexagon implant was rendered unrestorable under lateral loading. Overall, the internal hexagon design was found to provide the highest degree of single tooth stability. This was attributed to the increased material strength of the titanium alloy implant in comparison to the softer CP titanium implant, and to the abutment's longer, 1-degree tapered mating hexagon.

Osseointegrated implants: five systems. The Core-Vent implant system.

The developmental concepts of the Core-Vent System have been shaped by a desire to provide practicing dentists with a user-friendly system of oral implantology and restorative procedures. By providing implants in varying diametres, lengths and designs with a simplified surgical protocol, a true system of fitting the implant to the patient, not the patient to the implant, has evolved to meet the clinical needs of both dentists and patient. Standardized prosthetics enable similar restorations to be performed on all implants in the system. Bendable titanium inserts and castable abutments allow the optimum achievement of esthetics, regardless of the angle of implant placement.

The periodontal-prosthetic connection in implant dentistry: a case presentation.

The correct interfacing between the gingival structure and the final restoration is of primary importance to the clinician. Replacement of a single central maxillary incisor, once one of the most difficult challenges in implant dentistry, is now highly predictable due to the latest prosthetic advancements. In successful case planning, two preliminary factors--tissue evaluation and fixture selection--have to be considered. The learning objective of this article is the procedure and material selection in an anterior single tooth replacement, illustrated in a case study.
