[Clinical significance of zinc phosphate cement microstructure for permanent denture fixation].

Electron microscopic study of the structure of zinc-phosphate cement fixing artificial crowns detected its porous structure: isolated cavities and connected 0.3-10 mcm microspaces. These formations in the cement structure are stable and do not depend on the duration of permanent fixation of dentures. The authors claim that porous structure of materials used for permanent denture fixation is their important characteristic. The role of microspaces in fixing cement in the penetration of saliva under the artificial crown and the probable effect of this factor on caries development under the crown is discussed.

[Changes in the mixed salivary indices during orthodontic treatment].

The function of the blood-salivary barrier at different stages of orthodontic treatment of secondary partial adentia depends on the psychoemotional status of a patient. Such a conclusion was made after investigation of mixed human salivary pools. Total sialometry was carried out for objective evaluation of the level of salivary secretion. Salivary secretion was measured and the psychoemotional status of a patient was assessed using M. Luscher's 8-color test. During dental preparation the psychological status was assessed as 21.2 +/- 1.7 scores, versus normal 11.3 +/- 0.03 score. Salivation rate during dental preparation was 1.41 +/- 0.02 ml/min versus normal rate of 0.527 +/- 0.03 ml/min. The results indicate a relationship between psychological reactions of a patient and the manipulations in the oral cavity. These data may be used for assessing the status of a patient in general and, specifically, the stress index.

[The histoarchitectonics of human dental enamel].

The location of enamel prisms in various parts of the crown of human teeth of different functional groups is analyzed. The results are interesting for dentists and important in preparation of teeth for permanent dentures.

[The clinical manifestations of the electrochemical processes due to the finishing treatment of dentures made from stainless steel].

The authors propose to treat stainless steel dentures by grinding on organosilicon binding followed by 2 polishing procedures: with diamond paste and paste based on ultradispersed aluminum oxide powder. This technology improves the corrosion resistance of dentures and eliminates signs of diseases caused by electrochemical processes in the oral cavity more effectively than basic technology (vulcanite grinding and polishing with GOI paste).

[Plasma technology in the practice of orthodontics. 1].

The paper describes the technique of plasma spraying used to fortify the coating of permanent dentures. This method helps improve the quality of permanent dentures and strengthen the adhesion of coatings on retention layers. Hence, dentures with very thin retention layer and vary strong coating adhesion can be made by traditional methods of denture making, thus improving the quality of prosthetic treatment. Traditional plastic may be used as coating material.

[The effect of the temperature factor on the structural status of the rat dental enamel].

Effects of various temperature regimens on enamel ultrastructure were examined by scanning electron microscopy in 70 rat incisors. The study has revealed a deep restructuring of the enamel during overheating in the course of tooth preparation, which necessitates the use of appropriate agents for the prevention and correction of the changes developing in dental tissue.
