[Experimental study of soft X-ray radiation in the interaction of circularly polarized femtosecond-laser-pulse with low pressure xenon].

Using flat-field grating Spectrometer, the ions lines with wavelength between 5 and 60 nm were measured, which were produced by the interaction of circularly polarized 35 femtosecond ultraintense and ultrashort laser-pulse with 5 mm length xenon at the pressure 2 and 3 kPa respectively. The highest transition is the XeVIII: 4d10 5s(2 S1/2)--4d9 5s5p('P3/2) line at wavelength 17.0856 nm at 2 kPa and 3 kPa, the highest transition is 11.343 nm line of XeVII 4d10 5s2(1S0)--4d9 5s5f(3P1) transition. The xenon is ionized to XeVII, XeVIII and XeIX at both pressure.

[Cat-scratch disease].

OBJECTIVE: To study the etiology, epidemiology, clinical and pathological features, diagnose and treatment of cat-scratch disease(CSD). METHOD: The clinical information of 1 case was reported and the literatures were also reviewed. RESULT: Bartonella henselae was the primary pathogen of CSD. Almost all patients with CSD were in contact with animals, especially cat or dog before the occurrence of the disease. All the patients had the self-limited swelling of local lymph nodes and commonly a fever. The pathological feature was necrotic granulation-like micro abscessation, and a pleomorphous argyrophil G- bacillus could be showed by Warthin-Starry or Brown-Hopp stainings in the swelling lymph nodes. CONCLUSION: CSD is a self-limited bacterial infectious disease. And its clinical features, biopsy and special stainings of swelling lymph nodes are helpful to the final diagnosis. Gentamicin, rifadin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, bactrim, mitramycin, or resection of swelling lymph nodes had good effects on treating CSD.

[Long-term curative effect of ventilation tube insertion for otitis media with effusion in adult patients].

OBJECTIVE: To examine the long-term effect of ventilation tube insertion in treating patients with non-tumor adult-onset otitis media with effusion (OME). METHODS: During the period from 1999 to 2001, a total of 153 adult patients received ventilation tube insertion for OME and were followed up for 12-18 months postoperatively. A retrospective analysis of these cases was conducted. RESULTS: Out of the 153 patients, 81 had received at least one previous operation of ventilation tube insertion. During 12-18 months following the operation, the ventilation tubes were extruded in 89 patients, among whom 55 had OME recurrence. The recurrence of OME following ventilation tube extrusion was significantly correlated to the pathological changes in the nose or nasopharynx of the patients. CONCLUSION: The underlying pathological changes may lead to recurrence of adult-onset OME following extrusion of the ventilation tube, therefore, better long-term outcome may be expected only after identifying the underlying pathological changes and giving them appropriate treatment in addition to ventilation tube insertion.
