[Diagnosis and therapy of blood coagulation disorders in intrahepatic cholestasis].

The reduction of prothrombin level below 5% in a patient with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is reported. The necessity of controlling the Quick level or better factors II, VII, IX and X is discussed. A well-timed Vitamin K therapy in all cases with impaired secretion of bile during pregnancy is recommended.

[Results of standard-value determinations in newborn infants in the German Democratic Republic. II. Head circumference, biparietal and fronto-occipital diameter].

Using the measurements taken from 6645 male and 6381 female newborns from the GDR-population the normal values from head circumference, fronto-occipital and biparietal diameter are reported. The results were given in relation to duration of pregnancy (31. to 44. week of pregnancy) expressed in percentile tables. Head circumference and fronto-occipital diameter were larger in males than in females. The head circumference values are compared directly and in their relation to birth weight and length with the data reported by other authors.

[Results of a standard value determination concerning newborn infants in the German Democratic Republic. III. Morphologic assessment of maturity].

A simple technique for estimating of maturity in 15589 newborns without technical expense were performed in connection with the examination of birthweight, length, head circumference and head diameters at a gestational age of 31st to 44th week in 21 women's clinics in the GDR. The estimation of maturity is based on the gradual assessment of 8 external physical characteristics. The coefficients of correlation is not differed between characteristics of maturity, measures of newborns and duration of pregnancy. It is not possible to make an accurate statement of duration of pregnancy by this score of maturity than by measures of the newborns.

[Body measurements and morphological signs of maturity in newborn infants after hyperemesis gravidarum].

Birth weights from 128 males and 139 females born between the 39th and 42nd week of pregnancy whose mothers suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum were compared with normal groups of newborns. In the hyperemesis group, the females were on an average 97 g (p less than 0,05) and the males 61 g (p greater than 0,05) heavier than in the control groups. Birth lengths and cephalic measures differed not in both groups. The morphological maturity score was decreased in the hyperemesis groups.

[Modification of a radioimmunological double-antibody method for human chorionic somatomammotropin (HCS) as a rapid test suitable for high concentrations in the late pregnancy].

A rapid and reproducible double antibody radioimmunoassay for plasma human chorionic somatomammotropin is described. The assay can routinely be performed by incubation for three hours (37 degrees C). The different steps of this method and precision of test modifications were evaluated. Levels of HCS of 222 normal pregnant women between the 24th and 40th week of pregnancy were investigated in order to determine the normal range of HCS levels during pregnancy.

[Cardiotocogram findings in antenatal monitoring of fetal hematoblastosis and during intrauterine intrafetal transfusion].

34 falls with Morbus haemolyticus fetalis were controled from the 30. to 40. week of pregnancy by cardiotocography. The order of the severity of fetal erythroblastosis and certain types of oscillation devoted: In slight cases of Morbus haemolyticus fetalis preponderated (Hb greater than 15 g%) a undulating curve of oscillation (80%). Middlesevere cases (Hb 9-15 g%) showed in 57.2% an undulating and in 42.8% a saltatoring types of oscillation. In cases of severe fetal anemia (Hb less than 9 g%) we found at 64.2% a silent to narrowed undulating and at 21.4% saltatoring types of oscillations. A normal type of oscillation we not observed in this group. The various degrees of a chronical fetal hypoxia caused by an anemia and a placental dysfunction have been discussed as a reason for the typical CTG-curves. At hydrops fetus et placentae are bearing silent and sinusoid heart frequency curve and the CTG-sign late deceleration. A fetal intrauterine transfusion seems not very successfully, at this findings. During the intrauterine transfusion were established in all cases to a restriction of fluctuation at simultaneous increase of frequency.

[Changes in the binding capacity of thyroxine-binding globulin (TBC), of total thyroxine (T4), of the free thyroxine index (FT4-I) and of thyrotropin (TSH) during normal pregnancy and in hydatidiform mole].

TBC-index and total serum thyroxine were measured in 100 healthy nonpregnant and in 163 pregnant women during the 8. and 41. weeks of gestation. The free thyroxine index was calculated. The TBC-index was found to be elevated in pregnant women and rose continously with duration of pregnancy. The amount of total serum thyroxine was greater in pregnant women (p less than 0,01) without difference between early and late pregnancy. The free thyroxine index decreased continously during pregnancy (p less than 0,01). Serum TSH level were elevated during the first two trimesters of pregnancy. At the third trimester the TSH level were found within the normal range. In patients with hydatidiform mole TSH, total thyroxine, FT4-index, ETR-index as well as TSH levels were increased.
