[Concepts related to the course of gastric cancer].

It is difficult to precise when the diverse phenomenons that precede Gastric Cancer start. Diverse events occur in between from the genetic alternations to the advanced gastric carcinoma: inflammatory changes like gastritis, erosions, ulcerations, hyperplasia and benign neoplasias as the adenomas. On these lesions, dysplasia and later on early gastric carcinoma are established. These events have been observed and interpreted, some times in an outstanding way, by diverse authors. The current concept of the link between dysplasia and early gastric cancer is irrefutable.

[Gastric cancer].

Gastric cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, is variable in incidence on the world. In this paper, there is a review of the epidemiology and the etiopathogenic factors of the disease: genetics, hereditary, immunologic and environmental and, also, of the so called precursor diseases: atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia, gastric adenoma, gastrectomized patients, pernicious anemia and Menetrier's disease. There is an explanation about the changes of the gastric epithelium related both with the intestinal and diffuse type of adenocarcinoma; the anatomo-pathological notion of macroscopic advanced-Borrmann and early cancer-Japanese classification and the clinical and diagnostic procedures are included with the fundamentals of therapeutic management.

[Trichobezoar and gastric ulcer in pediatrics: a case report].

We report a case of gastric trichobezoar in a pediatric patient who had trichotillomania and trichophagia, in whom a gastric ulcer was found in a barium radiograph and confirmed at surgery, when the trichobezoar was extracted. We review the different clinical features of this strange clinical entity.

[Acute lesions of the gastric mucosa (LAMG)].

Fifty-four patients with acute lesions of the gastric mucosa (ALGM) were studied, specially from the clinical point of view and of the gastric secretion. It was found that the ALGM were fundamentally located in the gastric body and that in the majority of cases the maximum acid output obtained through the Histamine stimulation, was either increased or normal. Even though the dispeptic symptoms predominated, an important group of cases had ulcer symptoms.
