Biostatistical parameters of paternity and calculation by a computer programme.

Biostatistical Parameters such as the paternal markers in the child (PM), individual exclusion change (IEC) probability of incidental involvement (Z), probability of paternity (POP), plausibility of paternity according to Essen-M oller ( PLEM ) and paternity index (PI) are defined and discussed in respect to their application in cases of disputed paternity. In order to calculate these parameters for up to 24 marker systems, including HLA under strict observation of the linkage disequilibrium, a computer programme in BASIC has been developed.

Blood Group Antigens↗

A silent gene (C3-) producing partial deficiency of the third component of human complement.

A family is described with 3 members in 3 generations being heterozygous for the silent gene C3-: one girl, her mother and grandfather had half normal C3 levels and were apparently incompatible homozygous. No significant deviation in the total hemolytic complement activity, serum concentration of Bf and C4 component was found in the affected individuals.

An auto-anti-b in an a1b person. Serological studies.

The serum of a patient (Mr. Lat) with the regular blood group A1 B contains an anti-B reacting with all cells having a B antigen except Bx and cis AB. The anti-B reacts at 4 degrees C and occasionally at room temperature as shown by agglutination, absorption-eluction and by thermo-dynamic assays. The antibody is regarded as an irregular autoantibody belonging to the group of the so called "suppressed" or "latent" antibodies.

Linkage studies between HL-A and GPT polymorphisms and other genetic markers.

The phenotypes of 56 families with 126 children from the Hamburg area as well as gene frequencies and segregation of the genetic markers GPT, AP, ADA, AK, PGM1, PGM3, 6-PGD, CHE, C3, Gc, Tf, Hp and Cp were studied. In regard to linkage, the informative families were correlated to the results of HL-A and GPT typing. The linkage was tested according to the sequential test by MORTON (1955). See article. For other gene loci, linkage to the HL-A or GPT system could not be proved. But the positive lod scores of HL-A/GPT, HL-A/AP and GPT/6-PGD may give indication for linkage.
