[Ambulatory operative treatment of fresh fibular ligament ruptures].

Sudden accidental supination of the foot often causes the fibular ligament to be ruptured which is mostly mistaken for a sprained ankle and treated conservatively. From May 1977 to February 1984 we treated 431 cases of this kind surgically by suture of the ruptured ligament. Also in children suture of the ligament is indicated. The operation can be performed as an outpatient procedure.

[Pediatric femoral shaft fractures. Evaluation of 504 follow-up studies].

From 657 children who suffered from fractures of the femoral shaft during the years 1965-1980 504 could be followed-up in 13 hospitals of the GDR clinically and roentgenologically. 313 had undergone conservative treatment, 191 surgery with different methods. In all surgically treated cases there was overgrowth of the broken femoral shaft there was a shortening only in a few cases. In most cases the rotational deformity of the distal fragment persisted. Dislocation ad latus always had disappeared, whereas varus and expecially valgus deformities as well as antecurvation had improved partially. Coxa valga deformity was found most frequently after internal fixation.

[Two unusual bone tumours of the hand (author's transl)].

Two unusual cases of bone tumours of the fingers are described: an isolated metastasis of the bronchial carcinoma and an ossifying osteofibroma. Brief review of the literature, clinical picture and histological findings.
