[Inflammatory lesions of the breast: indication for MR-mammography?].

In a retrospective study the value of MR imaging of the breast in inflammatory changes was evaluated. The signal enhancement of 8 patients with histopathologically verified inflammatory carcinomas and 9 patients with global mastitis as well as local inflamed lesions was analysed. Neither signal behaviour nor signal/time relation were suitable to differentiate between malignant and benign changes. In conclusion inflammatory changes of the female breast are not indicated to be examined with MR imaging.

Adenocarcinoma↗

[Gemmangioma. Case report and review of the literature].

A benign gemmangioma with a diameter of 1 cm was found on the mons pubis of a 56-year-old woman. Gemmangiomas are rare tumours that occur in different locations. They have their origin in pluripotentional angioblastic cells and develop typical immature capillaries in a mesenchymal tumour stroma with few cells. The great variability and uncertain nature of the tumours are caused by the pluripotential capacity of the tumour cells. A review is presented of the cases reported in the literature since the first description by Orsós in 1932.

[Corticoid allergy].

A 50-year-old female patient developed maculopapular exanthema after administration of corticoids on account of a cervical syndrome. Under topical therapy with different corticoids because of an allergic contact eczema, the skin lesions worsened and consecutive oral corticoid therapy again induced maculopapular exanthema. Skin tests revealed an eczematous contact allergy to the stereoisomeric corticoids dexamethasone and beta-methasone, as well as to two salts of these substances. Furthermore, allergies to other ingredients of the vehicles were detected. The various allergic clinical manifestations, the allergologically important corticoids, the test procedures and sensitization conditions are discussed in correlation with the literature.

[Computed tomographic staging of hypernephroid carcinoma].

In 68 patients with renal cell carcinoma computed tomographic staging was compared to the histopathologic staging. The classification based to the staging scheme developed by Robson. The CT criticized the tumor stages correctly in 82%. Consequently CT is superior to angiography, especially in detecting infiltration of the peri- and pararenal space and of lymph node metastases. Difficulties were found in detecting tumor extension into the renal vein near by the renal hilus.
