[Problem solving, or: what is my real contribution as a helper?].

A helper's most important task is helping a client find his own solution although it often seems strange how it comes about. In doing this he enters the client's internal and external conversational field and with that into a stochastic process decisive for human life and development. There are however some well defined steps which he can do to reach his goal as the author tries to demonstrate by means of a longer therapy-example.

[Systemic family therapy in a case of anorexia nervosa in a boy--a case report within the scope of final interventions].

The end of session interventions of the 14 sessions of a treatment of a case of anorexia nervosa in a boy with systemic family therapy demonstrate how they are constructed to fit the system so they can address certain areas of ambivalence to effect the intended change of the family organization. This goal has been reached and the illness has been removed, as is proved by a follow-up 7 years after the end of the treatment.

[Systemic family therapy in a case of schizophrenic psychosis].

The treatment of the first onset of schizophrenia in a young woman is reported. Exploration of the family situation showed a disturbance in the development of the family organization according to the succession of stages of the "family life cycle". It took two individual and four family sessions within three months to overcome the threatening developmental "stalemate". The interventions used are discussed as to their aims, their "point of attack" and effect.

[The psychiatrist's basic attitude in the treatment of acute psychoses].

The basic attitude of the psychiatrist is important from the onset of psychosis and during acute treatment for the course of illness and rehabilitation of the patient. One has to know systemic processes in human systems and its underlying rules. The system in which the patient is part of is confronted with the system of helpers. The meaning of this system for the course of psychosis and the efforts of helpers is to be explored, recognized and has to be ordered with clear rules and competences.
