[A basic psychodiagnostic program for internists].

The increasing frequency of disturbances of the health, in which psychic and/or social influential factors are significant, reflects also in the number of patients of the specialist of internal medicine who is working in the outpatient department, the hospital and in a subspeciality. This requires from the specialists of internal medicine, if he will satisfy the claims of his patients for a comprehensive diagnostics and effective therapy, from the very beginning and in all phases of the care the involvement of a basic psychodiagnostics. Hereby the problem in question is an enhanced internal establishment of the anamnesis under psychodiagnostic aspect, which serves for the clarification of psychic and/or social influences on signs and symptoms, the experience of the and the course of the disease. An orientating systematization and a way to the positive diagnostics of neuroses, psychosomatic diseases or disturbances and further functional syndromes in the field of internal medicine are presented which demand the graduated psychotherapeutic measure.

[The Principle of causality in psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic methods--an attempt at a systematic analysis based on a technologically oriented psychotherapy concept].

The attempt is made to describe in general psychotherapeutic work and efficacy on the basis of the understanding of psychotherapy as a process of action in the framework of a principle of causality of psychotherapy. Issuing from this usual psychotherapeutic methods and conceptions, which at present are applied in the GDR, are briefly characterized and a systematology of these methods is demonstrated. The description of principles of effect shall facilitate the understanding for psychotherapeutic effects in patients undergoing internal treatment and the broader inclusion of psychotherapy into the therapy of the specialist in internal medicine.

[The causality principle of psychotherapy and supportive methods in group psychotherapy--reflections on the principles of method combinations].

A causality principle of psychotherapy is offered, starting from a technologically orientated concept of psychotherapy as a process. Working from target, commencement, principles, and means, psychotherapeutic methods may be characterised. From these, rules governing the therapist's mode of conduct are arrived at. The causality principle provides a theoretic and practical basis for the integration of ancillary methods into various therapeutic concepts, and for therapeutic teamwork.

[Psychotherapy in internal medicine? Systematic considerations on the problem].

Apart from pharmacotherapy and physiotherapy psychotherapy should become an important constituent of the therapy of the internal specialist. The theoretical basis for this gives the model of a biopsychosocial disease. With its help the restriction both to the biological and to the psychosocial level of human ill-being can be overcome. Psychotherapy shall not substitute but supplement pharmacotherapy and physiotherapy. In internal diseases it is always the therapy of a psychic factor significant for the development and/or the course of the disease within a complex therapy conception. In these cases psychotherapeutic methods must satisfy the same demands as all other therapeutic methods.

[Some ethical aspects of psychotherapeutic work].

A few thoughts are presented regarding the current discussion concerning ethical aspects of psychotherapy in socialist society. The author states his opinion regarding such problems as the obligation to take maximum care, the obligation to be constantly on call, professional discretion, the obligation to give treatment, cooperation with colleagues and the necessity of self-experience for the psychotherapeutic on the basis of experience gained in psychotherapeutic practice.
